In this video I will be showing you how to replace the belt on a washing machine.

To find your Belt for your Washing Machine you will need the full model number and on some models we will even need the serial number as the manufactures sometimes have fitted more than one type to a model series.

You can always tell if you have a problem with your belt if you can hear the main motor turning but not see the drum turning.

1. Unplug your washing machine from the power supply before attempting to replace the washing machine drive belt.

2. Take of the lid and back panel of; different appliances have different ways to access the belt.

3. If the machine still has the belt on the pulleys then this could be a different fault (example motor, PCB, programmer Etc). If the belt is broken or badly worn then this is your problem follow replacement steps. If the belt has just come of the washing machine and looks in good condition then it might not have been tensioned correctly or you may have worn bearings, see other videos.

4. There are many reasons why a good condition belt can come of here are a few

• Surging motor,

• Machine is out of balance,

• Bearings on your washing machine drum are worn,

• Jammed item of clothing in between the inner and out drum (example would be a sock).

1. You can see this process clearly in the video below. The first trick is to put the belt onto the smallest pulley (normally the motor pulley) then ease the belt onto the left hand side of the large pulley (normally the drum wheel) then turn the belt and the pulley together clock wise until the belt is sitting properly on booth pulleys then if the motor has a tensioner on it you can adjust it to the correct tension. Most modern washing machines are preset.

2. Now turn the drum by hand to make sure that everything is lining up correctly then reassemble the appliance cabinet and then test machine.

To find your replacement belt either use the number on the belt or use your model number.
