Dismantling an Integrated Bosch Washing Machine

In this guide, we will show you how to dismantle an integrated Bosch washing machine. These machines are designed to fit under your kitchen worktop and usually have a kitchen door attached to the front. This guide applies to Bosch and Siemens machines and other brands they manufacture worldwide.

The machine we have worked with has a warped drum that, during spinning, rubs against the door seal, causing a burning smell. This problem could be due to a warped drum or a fractured spider on the drum, causing it to drop and rub on the seal.

We would recommend you watch our whole video since we're taking you on an exclusive tour inside a Bosch washing machine, showcasing each component and demystifying their functions.

Safety First!

  • Unplug your Bosch integrated washing machine before starting work.
  • Organize screws and parts meticulously to avoid confusion during reassembly.

Tools You'll Need:

  • Screwdrivers (various sizes) or chargeable drill with correct extensions (if you have one).
  • A friend to give you a hand while removing the motor or a hoist.

Steps to Dismantle the Bosch Washer Machine

Please remember that the whole video includes step-by-step and detailed explanations, which may help you reduce your repair time.

Remove the Lid: The lid on an integrated machine is simply a sheet of steel held in place with multiple screws. Simply unscrew these to remove the lid.

Remove the Fill Pipe: The first component to remove is the Aqua Secure Hose. This is a double-lined hose with a valve that shuts off the water supply if the inner hose is damaged. It's a useful component, especially for those living in apartments as it can prevent flooding.

Remove the Back Panel: The entire back panel of this machine can be removed by unscrewing it.

Remove the Belt: The belt can be easily removed by pulling it towards you and rotating it. Always remember that it is lined up correctly in the center of the pulley wheels when putting it back on.

Removing the Heating Element: You notice a clip that can be undone with a small screwdriver, but you can cut it for easier removal. Carefully, disconnect the heater wires and the earth wire associated with it.

Remove the Motor: To remove the motor, please disconnect the heater and the multi-plug for the motor. Then, you can slide off the long bolts that hold it in place. You might need to tap the bolts a little if they are sticky.

Removing the Anti-Flood Device: To remove it, you'll need to disconnect the two wires connecting it to the rest of the machine. The device is attached to the bottom plate, so you'll need to move the machine back and then tilt it over for access. After moving the machine, you can remove the bottom plate and the two screws that hold the Anti-flood device in place. This device works by lifting a float when water is present, which then activates a micro switch inside. This signals to the machine that there's water in the base. Once you've removed the screws, you can remove the base of the machine.

Soap Drawer, Display Board, Door Seal Clamp: Initially, the soap drawer needs to be lifted out by pressing the catches at the bottom. Next, several screws in the compartment are removed, some of which may be corroded. There are additional screws on the side to be removed as well. The front edge of the door seal is then removed and the seal is peeled inwards to prepare for the removal of the panel. The door lock is disconnected next, as it is attached to the panel via a cable. This involves dropping down the door lock, disconnecting its wiring from the panel, and removing the data cable connected to the circuit board at the bottom. Lastly, the door lock can be pulled up and its wiring plug disconnected, leaving the control panel and the door lock assembly separate.

PCB Power Module: First, you need to press down the lugs on both sides, which will allow the circuit board to lift up. To provide enough space for this, some of the wiring may need to be unclipped. The pump is then unplugged, allowing the circuit board to be fully removed. To separate the main circuit board from the rest, there are a couple of clips on either side to be released. The circuit board is very expensive, so it will be beneficial for future use.

Shock Absorbers: You will start by removing bolts at the bottom of the shock absorbers to facilitate lifting the drum out of the machine for easier disassembly. Next, you will remove components from the top of the machine, including the top retention bar and the soap box, followed by disconnecting hoses and cables.

Water Valves: The water valve system consisting of three valves in your washing machine. Two valves are for pre-wash and main wash, while the third (blue) one is for the condenser, with a restrictor to control water flow for steam condensation. They emphasize the importance of inspecting the valves and mention performing a meter check to ensure proper functionality.

NTC Sensor & Thermostat: You can remove the NTC sensor from one side, simply unclipping it and snipping its wires for later identification. Then, on the other side, you locate the thermostat which features a reset button, confirming its functionality. You also take note of the heating element and plan to remove the pressure switch shortly. As you proceed, you release the wiring on top, cutting a few clips for easier access. Lastly, you disconnect the pressure switch and notice two wires connected to the capacitor for the fan motor.
