We switched on the dryer one day, and there was a pop, and then no power. We have had repaired by engineer as under warranty, but he left me the PCB board. He just said they fail, and did not look at the failed PCB board. I took an interest to see if I could repair for a spare. The 47ohm resistor is burnt and this is the only visible damage i can see but I will show you photos once I have your email address and will look to get your advise on what other components may need replacing. Never soldered before, but keen to turn my hand at it as I am an ok DIYer. Appreciate your comments and what your reply.

Hi Steve,
Yes, unfortunately, these days nobody really repairs PCB’s anymore. They just replace the faulty one and call it a day.
Now, if your AEG T65170AV Tumble Dryer was not in warranty, that printed circuit board would have cost you well over £100. Considering that the failed components cost only a fraction of that, it makes total sense to repair it, even just for a spare as in your case.
I’m putting some of the pictures you sent us for others to see and know what the failed components we are talking about look like.
