Hi there, thanks for your video on YouTube regarding a teardown of a Bosch WAE24368GB washing machine. Having followed the process I have been able to confirm a broken spider on my 12+ year old machine. Given the cost to repair I have decided to buy a new machine. Do you have any recommendations on which machine to buy in terms of reliability/quality, etc. I have a budget of around £500, and would like 7-8kg capacity.Also would you like any of the parts from the old machine (for free)? Am based near Milton Keynes if you are ever over this way.Many thanksAdam

Sorry to hear about your washing machine drum spider failing. To fix this, you’ll need a new drum, which can be pricey. But before you spend a lot on a new machine, consider getting a replacement drum for your old one. Your old machine likely has better build quality.
Below is an exploded diagram of your machine so you can match the drum type. Sometimes, engineers sell old stock on eBay and Amazon. Another option is to search for machines with electrical problems on eBay using your model number. You can often find these for as little as £20-30 and take the drum from them.
If you decide to buy a new machine, be aware that the build quality of modern machines isn’t as good unless you’re spending over £1,000 on high-end models. I recently did a video series on LG washing machines. Their drums are still splittable, which is good, but LG doesn’t provide technical information to the public, which is disappointing. Still, they are decent for the price.
I don’t want to recommend a specific machine because if it fails soon after, I wouldn’t want you to blame me. However, I have seen that Bosch, Neff, and Siemens have sealed drums and expensive parts now, which conflicts with the Right to Repair Act.
When choosing a washing machine, keep it simple. You don’t need Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or self-dosing features—just a reasonable drum capacity. The link to some LG machines is below.

If you decide not to keep your existing machine, consider selling it on eBay for £10. Someone else might benefit from its good parts like the motor or programs, and it saves your machine from being scrapped.
