I will try and help with this problem on Candy GOV 580C-80 tumble dryer.

Good afternoon Kath.  If your tumble dryer will not heat up then I suspect you may have a problem with the heating system this can be one of three or four different devices that may have failed.

The first thing you need to check is the element there is a high and low side to this element,  also you will need to check the thermostats.  sometimes there is a thermostat fitted it to the front of the tumble dryer,  you can see all about these in our videos below. You will need a multimeter to test the individual components. You could ask a neighbour or friend to help you with a repair if you are not able to do it yourself.
