Watched your video online. Took the cover off the back of the Candy GVS C9DCGB-80 tumble dryer, disconnected the cables from the 2 thermostats and the one on the left hasn’t got continuity. I’m guessing that’s the issue?

I will try and help with this problem about Candy GVS C9DCGB-80 Tumble Dryer,

Hi Ryan,

The thermostat on the left, above the heating element, is usually a cut-out thermostat. It has likely exceeded its temperature limit and gone open circuit. You can replace this thermostat, and they are available, but it’s important to understand why it cut out in the first place.

The most common reason is that people open the door mid-cycle to check the clothes. If they find them dry, they remove the clothing without letting the machine finish its cycle. This can make the machine overheat and blow the thermostat. This cut-out thermostat blows because the machine is overheating.

Overheating can happen for several reasons. As mentioned, interrupting the cycle mid-way or not allowing the machine to complete its 10-minute cooling down period at the end can cause issues. Sometimes, a build-up of fluff blocks airflow inside the machine, causing it to exceed its designed temperature and blow the thermostat.

I don’t know exactly why yours has blown because you haven’t described it. I suggest watching a maintenance video on condenser tumble dryers all the way through. If your machine is overheating and blowing the cut-out thermostat, there’s always a reason for it. Find that reason before replacing the component; otherwise, you’ll replace it, use it for a month or two, and then face overheating again.

I hope this helps you.
