Drum turns when the switch is depressed but stops as soon as the switch is let go. There is a buzzing noise and a slight burning smell. You’re help is greatly appreciated.

I will try and help with this problem with your Hoover VHV180-80 Tumble Dryer

Good morning ​Jim, you may have a problem with the door catch​ ​system​ or it is possible that you may have a problem with the starter relay board, it is possible to check the relay ​ using the video about relays below.

If it is none of these you may have a problem with the motor but it is on a rare occasion the motor becomes faulty.
