I have checked the thermostat/sensor on the back of the heater the first one on the left top does not have continuity – so I think I need a replacement thermostat/sensor.Can you please let me know the correct part number and I will make the purchase online.many thanks, Tom.

I will try and help with this problem on Hoover VTC591NB Tumble Dryer 

Yes this does sound like the thermostat has gone, normally they only sell the complete heating element, but you are lucky we have now sourced the thermostat which you are on about, I have put a link below to the thermostat and also the heating element and also included a couple of videos the below to help you service the machine and replace the parts.
