I replaced the seal on the Hotpoint EG900X oven door believing this was the issue as it was broken. However, the door is still not closing even though I have replaced the seal. This is a double cooker. We watched one of your videos and it talked about the door hinge being faulty. We tried removing the hinge but it would not come out, until the latch got stuck. The hinges comes out but we are unable to release the latch. The video talked about plates inside the cooker. But with this model cooker it looks like we would have to dismantle the whole cooker in order to get inside to the plates. We wanted to know whether there is something we can do to fix this issue with the oven door or not, the cooker is in such good condition. The cod. 44445780300

I will try and help with this problem about Hotpoint EG900X Cooker Oven,

Hi, sorry to hear about the problem with your Hotpoint oven door hinges. This is a range cooker, and there are 13 different models of this cooker. You will need the full model number from the identification plate.

The hinges on this cooker are built into the door, but replacing them should not be a problem. I have included some videos below to help you remove the oven door. Once the door is off, you can strip it down, remove the old hinges, and replace them.

To buy new hinges for your Hotpoint cooker, use the full model number to ensure you get the correct ones. Stripping down the door is easy; there are usually a couple of screws at the bottom, and you may need to remove the door handle depending on the model.

I don’t have exploded views from workshop manuals as Hotpoint does not provide this information well. One video below explains about the latch plates that hold the hinge in place. Check that these plates are not damaged. Replacing these plates is harder because you will need to remove the side panels of the cooker for access.

Since I haven’t had a similar range cooker in my workshop recently, I can’t give detailed instructions. The exploded diagram below shows how the range cooker comes apart and lists all available parts. Hopefully, you won’t need to take off the hob top to access the side panels.

If the plates are in good condition, you probably just need to replace the hinges. This means stripping down the door once it’s removed is not difficult. I hope this helps. Sorry I can’t give more detailed instructions due to Hotpoint’s poor provision of manuals and information.

All the best and good luck with your repair,
Paul
