Hi there, I have a Hotpoint HDA6.5SAB cooker hood and it is struggling to clear the smoke and my kitchen smells bad when it’s on. I’ve searched the problem and figured it out that I need a new carbon filter. Can you help please?

Hi Eddy, sorry to hear about the problem with your Hotpoint HDA6.5SAB Cooker Hood,

You’ve done some great troubleshooting, and you are almost certainly correct. The problems you’re describing poor extraction of smoke and a bad smell when the hood is running are the classic signs of a saturated carbon filter.

Over time, the carbon filter becomes saturated with old cooking odors. When you turn the hood on, the airflow through the clogged filter releases these stale smells back into your kitchen. A clogged filter also restricts airflow, which is why it’s struggling to clear smoke.
