Hello, I’ve been having a few issues with my Indesit IFW6340IXUK electric oven. Every setting i put the oven on gets to the right temperature, apart from the ‘fan’ only option. Fan grill for example works absolutely fine. I replaced the heating element thinking that was the issue but it didn’t fix the problem. I bought an oven temp sensor via your site but can’t seem to find the video explaining how to replace. Can you help?.Thank youCharlene

Hi Charlene,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with your Indesit electric oven IFW63401XUK. You’ve mentioned that you’ve replaced the NTC sensor, which measures the oven’s temperature. However, because these ovens use a circuit board, the issue might be with the board itself.

There are several relays on the circuit board. When using the fan oven setting, you need to check two things first. Ensure the element has the correct continuity for its wattage. You can use an Ohm’s law calculator to find the Ohm’s reading based on the wattage at 220 volts. Next, make sure the fan motor works properly.

If both are functioning well, then the problem could be with the circuit board or its wiring. The circuit board has individual relays that control different functions. If the relay for the fan oven element is faulty, it won’t send power to the element.

Older cookers used selector switches and thermostats for control, but modern ones work differently. When you select a setting, multiple relays operate that function. For example, on the fan oven setting, there are usually two or three relays in action: one for the fan motor and another for turning the element on and off to maintain your set temperature range. The NTC sensor controls this temperature range.

Since you’ve said other functions work fine but not the fan oven setting, it suggests a problem with either the fan oven element relay or possibly wiring or configuration on the circuit board.

Without seeing your oven in person, it’s hard to diagnose accurately. Unfortunately, Indesit doesn’t provide workshop manuals to the public or myself. Hopefully, they will in future since Beko, who now owns Indesit, is good at supplying technical repair information.

I hope this helps you diagnose your cooker’s problem. I’ve included an exploded diagram at the bottom of this page showing all components of your oven. Look at part 521 space 1 for the main circuit board and check its relays.

Good luck with your repair!
