I have an Indesit BWSC 61251 washing machine. As the drum spins, it makes a banging sound, which when is at full speed, sounds like a machine gun is being fired. Taken apart as much as i can, and unable to remove the drum from its hard plastic housing. It looks like the front and back of the housing are melted together. If possible I require the drum in it’s housing intact. Or any further information on taking the drum housing apart would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards. Lewis

Hi Lewis, sorry to hear about the problem with your Indesit BWSC 61251 Washing Machine,

It sounds like the drum has collapsed. The issue with this machine is that it has a sealed drum, so you can’t replace the bearings or the spider. You will need to fit another drum. I know these drums can be expensive, so it’s up to you if you want to go ahead with the repair.

If you need a new drum, sometimes you can find a complete washing machine on eBay with a different fault and swap its drum into yours. This is a cheaper solution. Otherwise, you’ll need to buy a new spare part which will be costing upwards of £200!

Normally, we don’t ship the drums because they might get damaged during the shipping process, and some parts of the drum may become dented or faulty. That’s why you should be aware of the possible risks! However, if you still want to buy it, here is the link: https://shop.how-to-repair.com/products/merloni-indesit-group-drum-assembly

I suggest looking for a similar model on second-hand shopping sites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace. Sometimes, you can find a machine with an electrical fault and use its drum to replace yours. These machines can cost as little as £20 and it’s worth trying to keep your machine running. This helps avoid landfill waste and saves you money compared to buying a new drum.

You can also find other spare parts along with the useful videos and exploded views at the bottom of the page. If you need more help, don’t hesitate to come back to us. Cheers mate!
