Hi, my Lg F4J6TMP8S washing machine’s door won’t unlock after the cycle has finished. I can’t open it. I’ve tried unplugging it and restarting, but nothing seems to work. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?

Hi, sorry to hear about the problem with your LG washing machine. If the door is stuck and won’t open, check behind the pump flap in the bottom right-hand corner. You might find an emergency release cord there. This cord should help you open the door.

The issue could be with the door interlock, which might need replacing. This is likely why you can’t open the door. If you don’t have an emergency cord, try using one of the techniques in the video I’ve added below. There are many ways to gain access, but without seeing the machine myself, I can’t tell you exactly which method to use.

Watch the video carefully and follow the instructions. You may get lucky. Also, make sure to disconnect the power for at least 3 to 4 minutes before trying to open the door. If power is still going to the lock, it might stay active. I hope this helps you.

I’ve also added a detailed diagram of your machine below. This diagram shows all the parts of the machine. However, you gave me an incomplete model number. There are many versions of the number you provided. Make sure to use the full model number from the identification plate. This plate is usually on a label inside the door or on the back of the machine.
