The error codes DE, DE1, and DE2 all indicate an issue related to the door lock. While the problem can sometimes originate from the main circuit board, a faulty door interlock is a very common point of failure for these machines.
A built-in safety mechanism requires you to wait 2 to 3 minutes after switching the power off before the door lock will disengage. This delay ensures the machine has safely stopped operating.
To diagnose the problem, try turning the machine off using its display panel and wait for this 2-to-3-minute period.
- If the door opens after waiting, the door lock itself is likely the problem.
- If the door remains locked, the issue may be with the circuit board.
Additionally, you should inspect the wiring that runs from the door interlock to the printed circuit board to ensure there isn’t a bad connection. Despite other possibilities, the door interlock remains the most frequent cause of these errors.
Without being able to inspect your machine, the standard approach most engineers take is to replace the door lock first as a diagnostic step. If the machine functions correctly with a new lock, then the problem is solved. If it doesn’t, this would point toward a more complex issue, such as a faulty circuit board.
Since door locks are relatively inexpensive, trying this as a first solution is a practical and cost-effective approach.
