Hi Paul. I have a NEFF B1820N0GB/03 Oven and it is on for 2 minutes and then tripped off the fuse. I need your help please. What can cause the problem and how can I fix it?

Hi Tanya, thanks for sending the email and for your call earlier and sorry to hear about the problem with your NEFF B1820N0GB/03 Oven,

After reviewing the issues with your Neff oven, I’ve determined that the fan motor is working correctly, but the oven light is not. This could be due to a blown bulb, which you’ll need to check separately.

However, if the fan oven element is leaking electricity to earth, this can happen a few minutes after you turn the power on. This usually indicates an earth leakage fault in the element.

Before attempting any work on the appliance, it is critically important that you disconnect it from the electricity supply and ensure it is fully isolated!

The fan oven element for your model is part number 00499003. It’s straightforward to replace, and we have several videos demonstrating the process.

Here’s a breakdown of the steps:

  1. Open the oven door.
  2. Remove the fan guard at the back of the cooker, which is typically held in place by a couple of screws.
  3. Once the fan guard is off, you can access the mounting screws for the element. On some models, there are three screws: two at the top holding the element to the mounting plate and one additional screw at the bottom.
  4. After removing these screws, you can slide the element backward. This will allow you to remove the electrical terminals without having to take the oven out.
  5. Please be very careful not to let the wires fall through the holes at the top, as you would then have to remove the oven to retrieve them.
  6. Once you’ve removed the old element, simply replace it with the new one.

I have included links to the parts you’ll need at the bottom of the page, including a direct link to the fan oven element for your cooker.

The light bulb is also a common part and is readily available on our website. The part number for the bulb is 00057874. I will also include a link to it on the page.

It’s a 40-watt, 240-volt bulb with an SES-E14 fitting. It’s sometimes called a golf ball bulb because of its round shape. While it’s easy to replace, you should use a tea towel to grip the glass cover when unscrewing it, as they can be very difficult to get off. You should also wear a glove in case the glass shatters, as they have been known to seize.

A special tool for removing the glass cover exists, but we don’t have it listed at the moment.

Your Neff oven has both a grill element and a fan oven element, but it does not have a base element. Any of these elements could also be the source of an intermittent earth leakage fault.

You can find the spare parts you need on our shop page. I’m sorry I couldn’t provide any workshop manuals or diagrams since the manufacturer is keeping these information classified to their technicians. However, there are videos below to assist you in replacing any component along with the exploded diagram of your machine.

In the video, I mentioned about 5 common problems.;

  1. Oven will not heat because the element is faulty.
  2. Oven won’t heat because timer on manual.
  3. Oven won’t heat because of a fault with thermostat or selector switch.
  4. Oven not cooking evenly (one element faulty or fan not working correctly).
  5. Oven not reaching temperature normally an element but possible fan motor.

Coomon Problems with Electrical Ovens

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.

  • Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.

  • The grill element doesn’t work

This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.

  • The oven overheats and burns everything

Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.

  • The oven or cooker cuts out after it’s been on for a while

This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but us
