Hi, this is a real head scratcher. I have a Siemens WT46E384GB/24 Tumble Dryer. Originally the machine developed a PCB fault, bad connection causing the power to fluctuate on and off. The board was sent off for repair to the guys you recommended in one if your videos, and has been repaired and then rechecked under warranty by them. However now with the repaired board, when I select a program and press start the machine instantly shuts off and the comes back on but it will not run. Its almost like a fuse is tripping and then resetting. Ive checked for continuity on all of the wires and components and the capacitor is showing 8.47mF against its rating if 8.5. I tried a new heating element with no success and the motor is spinning freely.Would really appreciate you thoughts on what else could cause this issue I have a video if it will help.Many Thanks, Jon

Hi Jon, sorry to hear about the problem with your tumble dryer. You have a Siemens WT46E384GB/24, which is one of the last good machines made by Bosch and Siemens. These machines are basic but very reliable, so it’s worth trying to repair it.
To check if you have a circuit board problem or a power supply issue, follow these steps. Look for an electronic suppressor (also called a filter) at the back right-hand side of the dryer. Set your multimeter to 240 volts and connect the crocodile clips to the live and neutral wires. Turn on the machine and power it up.
If the voltage drops on the multimeter when you press start, it means there’s a power failure when load is put on the circuit. This could be due to a bad socket, faulty extension lead, or another wiring issue. It might also mean the electronic filter is failing.
If the voltage doesn’t drop, then the issue might be with the printed circuit board. Sometimes, companies test and repair circuit boards but don’t test them under load. When you press the start button, the motor and capacitor pull 5-6 amps for a few microseconds. If there’s a dry joint on the circuit board or a faulty capacitor or component that breaks down under load, it may work fine without load but fail when the motor or heating system is active.

It might also be worth keeping an eye on eBay or Facebook marketplace for a machine with the similar model as yours as then you would be able to get spare parts from a machine that may have a blown heating system Or faulty motor sometimes you can get these as a little as £10-£20
