Hi The plate on the bottom of the machine, underneath it, seems to be riveted onto the frame. How do I get to the filter/pump?

I will try and help with your Siemens WXLM166AGB/01 Washing Machine problem

Apart from you mentioning the bottom is riveted in place I will assume nothing else. When a pump is blocked, it is usually enough to just open the filter cap and remove any piece of fabric, metal or coins that might be jamming the pump propeller. Two access that you’ll need to remove the plastic cover at the bottom front. If this doesn’t fix it and you need to remove the pump for a proper strip-down and cleanup. Looking at the exploded diagrams, you’ll have to remove the lid and well, followed by the door seal, door lock and finally the from panel. This will give you plenty of access to the whole of the front of the machine. See exploded diagrams bellow for reference. I have added spare parts link at the bottom of the page to purchase in case you find yours is faulty. I also added a few videos that should help you with the repair.
