Hi, I’m keen to attempt a repair of my washing machine (Siemens XL1400). But, I’m trying to find the fault. Effectively, it comes down to the drum won’t rotate. The machine fills and empties without a problem, but just makes a ’clicking’ sound (like a switch) a couple of times when it should be rotating, then sits there and does nothing. I checked the drain, and it isn’t blocked. I took off the front and took a look at the pump and the motor, and couldn’t see any issues. Both ’look’ to be in excellent condition. I did notice that the door seal has a couple of small tears in it (and is leaking a little). The drum rotates easily, so I don’t think that it’s the bearings or anything jammed in there. Any ideas. I know that I’ll need to buy a new door seal, but I don’t really want to spend money on carbon brushes, or PCB modules, or anything else, if it isn’t going to actually fix it.

Hi Roger.

This could be a fault with the motor but first check the brushes see these videos on how to change them and how to find the fault. the testing motor video should only be done if you fave good electrical knowledge.
