Fitting Elitech STC 1000 Electronic Thermostat To Fagor Fridge Freezer
Fixing an Old Fagor Fridge Freezer With Elitech Electrical Thermostat
In this guide, we will show you how to replace the thermostat on an old fridge freezer. This repair is affordable and should take about 20-30 minutes to complete.
We will be using the Elitech STC 1000 thermostat for this repair. The old thermostat on the fridge freezer in the video is no longer working and the original part is obsolete. We've chosen the STC 1000 because it's affordable, easy to install, and allows us to control the fridge freezer's temperature completely.
We tried to be concise and give brief information on this guide, so we would recommend you watch our video since we're showing you how easily you can fit the Elitech STC 1000 electrical thermostat to your old fridge freezer.

Choosing the Location for the New Thermostat
The next step is to decide where to install the new thermostat. Ideally, you should install this electronic thermostat in a location where you can easily read the display. However, this isn't always possible. In our case, we considered installing it in the cavity where the old thermostat was located, but decided against it because it would expose the electrics.
We also considered installing it at the top of the fridge freezer, but there wasn't enough room due to the door and trim. After considering our options, we decided to install it on the side of the fridge freezer. This location provides enough space for the thermostat, and allows the user to easily control the temperature.

Installing the New Elitech STC 1000 Thermostat
To install the new Elitech thermostat, we first need to cut a hole in the side of the fridge freezer. You will need to chose a spot that would be easy to reach, but also out of the way. We made sure that there were no pipes where we planned to cut.
Once the hole was cut, you can fill off the edges to make sure they were smooth. Then, please check to make sure the new thermostat fit in the hole. Once the Elitech STC 1000 was fitted, you can install the locking tabs on the other side to secure it in place.
Wiring the New Elitech Thermostat
After installing the thermostat, you should run a wire down to the compressor and install the sensor inside the fridge. This sensor controls the temperature.
You also run a live and neutral wire up to the relay on the new thermostat. Then, you can use a jumper wire to connect the live wire to the cooling side of the relay, and another wire to connect the relay to the compressor.
This setup allows the thermostat to control the compressor in the same way the old thermostat did. The only difference is that the new thermostat also needs a neutral wire because it has a digital display.
Once all the wires were connected, just put the cover back on the thermostat and the fridge freezer will be ready to use.
