This tutorial can be used on CDA, Delonghi, Diplomat, Hygena, Elba, Kenwood, Tecnolec ovens or cookers Etc.It will show you how to diagnose the fault and how to replace a fan oven element.

The fan oven that has stopped heating up is one of the most common problems that oven repair & cooker repair engineers are called to.

The problem in most cases is simply a faulty fan oven element. To call out the manufacture (CDA, Delonghi, Diplomat, Hygena, Elba, Kenwood, Tecnolec) to replace an oven element is going to cost you in the region of £75 – £125.

Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating

If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty.

When you turn the oven on the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element.

Note that in some cases the fan oven element fails and it will trip the consumer unit’s rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board). If so then it needs to be re-set, but if every time you turn the fan oven on it keeps tripping then this could be a faulty element that has gone to earth.

The following symptoms should be apparent when testing your cooker:

  • Make sure your timer is not on auto.
  • Check to see if Fan oven is not heating up,
  • Check to see if fan in the oven is working fine,
  • Check to see if thermostat light is on.
  • On removal of the Fan Oven Element (see below) there may be visual signs of burning, blowing, or splitting but not in all cases. Is no sign of damage you will have to test with a meter.

Our video instructions will show you exactly how to replace a CDA, Delonghi, Diplomat, Hygena Elba, Kenwood, Tecnolec oven element yourself, and save you lots of money!

Hi I have a zanussi zcv621mw oven. It stopped getting hot in the fan oven part so I had a new element installed. After 2 weeks it started to throw the electricity out. Another new element was installed and the same happens. Do you have any ideas for what would cause this. If I leave the oven door open it does not throw the electricity out but after 5 mins of been on with the door closed it happens.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi. I have a Lamona fan oven. LAM3200. Fan and light working but no heat to either grill or oven. Does this indicate that both the grill element and oven element need replacing?

    Hi
I have a Lamona oven & grill. The oven is not heating up. The fan is working. The red temperature indicator light comes on but then goes off when the oven setting control knob is turned on. We have tried a new element and a new thermostat.

    Hi Paul,
I have a non-working grill/oven. Main oven is fine so timer I think is ok.
The element looks visibly damaged but I’m concerned as the light does not come on (there is no fan).
Does the light not coming on imply a fault other than the element?
    Thanks

    • First you need to make sure the timer it is on manual. you can get a fault with the timer, you may have a problem with the selector switch.

My CDA oven has just had its heating element anc has been fine for months. Recentlyy after about an hour of cooking the oven just cuts out..lights off everything. After a while of leaving it, it all comes back on itself! Any ideas guys?..

    • you have a bad connection somewhere, the most obvious places to look.
check to terminal Connection to cooker
check the connections on the timer
check the connections on the thermostats and make sure that they are working correctly.
check the selector switch or burnt connections and Points.

I have a Kenwood dual fuel cooker, gas hob works fine as does main oven, when I switch the grill part on, it is fine for about 5 seconds then trips in my consumer unit, it even trips when I switch the light on (I have checked the lightbulb and it works ok) – could it be a faulty element?

    Hi
My Ebla C96DF oven has stopped working.
Was working fine one night then just didn’t come on the next day..hasn’t worked since.
The grill still works but the top & bottom heating elements for oven are not. The oven light comes on when placed in oven mode but just no heat at all. Timer and temperature Knobs works fine as it also operates grill. Do you know if there’s a fuse/thermostat which operates these independently and If so where located? I’ve looked at the manual online but it doesn’t give me a troubleshooting guide or location of possible fuses/thermostats..
    Any ideas or help appreciated..
