Hello There, I was wondering if you can help me please, Im not sure but i think the motor is not working on my machine. Can you tell me how to check if it is this. Is it a difficult job to repair or replace,My machine will not spin just makes a whirring noise.

I will try and help with this problem with your INDESIT IWME127 UK washing machine

Most problems with washing machine motors are usually caused by worn carbon brushes. These are designed to come into contact with the moving part of the motor and they do wear down over time, so I would check these first. I have added a video tutorial to help assist you check the carbon brushes and carry out a replacement if needed.

If the carbon brushes appear to be OK then the second thing I would check would be the sensor (the motor will need to be removed to check this)

If the sensor is faulty it will send the wrong information to the control board -test the sensor using a multi-meter.

If your motor is looking good then another common reason why your washing machine has stopped spinning could be due to a blocked drain pump. This can happen when something gets stuck in the outlet pipe which will prevent the steady flow of water in and out of your machine. I have also added A video tutorial on drain pumps to assist in your repair.

Another thing that can cause the whirring sound you are hearing could be down to the drum bearings are worn.
