Question from customers: Why Hotpoint Washing Machine Drum Paddles Break. This video will show you how to replace a washing machine Drum Paddle or lifters on various models of  Hotpoint washing machines.

There are 3 simple reasons why drum paddle or lifters break these are:

1 customers put things into the Hotpoint washing machine that they shouldn’t

2 Plastic degrades over time and they cannot take the stress of the loads.

3 After the customer has replaced the part and were not fitted correctly and have come loose and broke.

Lots of people wash all manners of things in a washing machine (trainers Etc) that they shouldn't.

One of the most common drum paddles that breaks, are the ones fitted to Hotpoint washing machines. This type is most notably the drum paddle most commonly fitted incorrectly by owners and, if they are not fitted correctly, they will break or shear off again meaning that you will have to buy more. That’s not a huge issue as these drum paddles are not hugely expensive but this video will help you get it right.

The trick with Hotpoint washing machine drum paddles is the locking tab.

There is a small tab that has to be lifted back up, pushed down to remove the paddle, you will need to fashion a tool that will perform the same task. If you don’t get the tab back up properly and, we mean properly, the paddle will come loose and break again.

I have a hotpoint using the paddles with the three markings on one end. I cant find the correct position the metal tab needs to be in. I have tried several times from 90° to 10° angles but the inner paddle seems to cut away in the middle and come loose making the paddle unusable. Can you please help with the exact tab positioning?

I have an Hotpoint Aqualtis model number AQ114D69DE Washing Machine. I need to replace one of the paddles, they are like a “S” shaped paddle with holes along the top and one hole on the end. I have a good one to fit, but I cannot work out how to get the old one out. There is about 1mm play / movement backward and forward. I have tried with a probe in each hole to feel for a barb, to depress so it will come out with no success, if anyone can help I will be so thankful. Many thanks Paul.
