How to Replace Hotpoint Ariston washing Machine Door Handle

by / Saturday, 12 May 2018 / Published in Door Locks & Switches, Washing machines

A Common fault with Hotpoint Ariston washing machine is that the door handle can fail, this is normally due to people not waiting for 2 minutes for the door lock to release the safety feature that stops people opening the door when in use, a child-proof system. but if the door is forced the handle can fail, it can also fail due to the plastic getting brittle with age,

This tutorial will show you how to replace a door handle on Hotpoint Ariston washing machines.

Before doing any work on the appliance, disconnect it from the electric supply!

To open the door if jammed

  • On some models, there is an emergency release toggle. Pull on the toggle and pull the door open at the same time. The toggle releases the lock and the door should open. If the toggle is missing you will have to take the top cover off the machine and reach the interlock from above.
  • There is a release mechanism on the interlock itself. Once the door is open you´ll notice the full serial number either on the door or on the casing or both.
  • To order a replacement part it is useful to note down this number.
  • To change the handle you will need a Phillips screwdriver and a small flathead screwdriver.
