This video will help you diagnose fault with Hoover Candy tumble dryers that are not heating, and how to repair them.

Both condenser and vented tumble dryers use very similar heating elements. They usually have one or two thermostat sensors on the front and one or two thermostat sensors on the back. The tumble dryer on this video has two thermostats fitted on the heating element housing located on the back. These are prime candidates when diagnosing no heat faults on tumble dryers.

Next there's the heating element itself that can be faulty and should be tested if the thermostats are ok.

On the front you have a thermostat, you should test it for continuity. There is also an NTC sensor and you should test if for resistance (measured in holms).

These are all working fine, so by process of elimination we know that something is wrong with the printed circuit board itself. In this case it turned out to be a switching relay.

Hi I wonder if u could help. I have watched ur excellent video for my Hoover tumble dryer and found 1x thermostat on heater assembly to be open circuit.
    Two questions:
1/ Can I buy the individual thermostat?
2/ Would I need to continue checking the front stat and NCT sensor could these two components cause the heater stat to fail?

    Hi

I’ve tested all the compnents and all tested ok, so this issue looks to be the circuit board. Just before i try to fix the circuit board, can i confirm my heater element test. The heater element has two thermostates and both tested good. so then tested the heater, pulled out the wire and found only three wires, red, black and yellow. So have continuity between black/yellow, no continuity red/yellow or red/black. Also the heater make on both sides of the element. Would suggest its burt out. But has the testing proved the heater good or bad.

    Thanks

    thank you.

My Hoover VHC680F-80 (31100364093850390) had all lights flashing when start button is activated. Heater had no continuity on the right side stat so replaced but problem persist. Replaced pcb 40005949 with 40008456 but did not solve problem. Fault code identified with 5 flashes so changed front ntc but problem persists. The motor will run at around 0.8A and will stop after about 2 minutes of running then will kick off again but current remains the same at 0.8A. I have basically changed all components in the machine but the problem persists. Help pls.

    Hi,

Thank you for the very informative videos.

However, the Hoover VisionTech Infinity clothes drier that we have is still not working and I’m hoping you can help.

The original fault symptoms were that the machine was completely dead with no lights on the front coming on at all.

Basic continuity of heater element and thermostat testing (all of them – 2 on the back above the heater, the one on the fluff box and the NTC thermistor there as well – which showed ~35k ohms at about 13 degrees C and dropped in resistance on being warmed, BTW) was done, all producing no obvious issues.

The main controller PCB was replaced and the symptoms have changed. Now, when the control dial is rotated to a timed Drying setting, the machine beeps twice and the Start button light flashes in time with those beeps, then when the Start button is pressed, the machine beeps once and the 9h/END LED comes on steadily and the machine starts: drum rotates and the heater comes on for about 5 seconds (you can feel the heat coming out the exhaust port). Then, after about 15 seconds, ALL the LEDs start flashing at about once per second and after a few flashes, it beeps in time with the flashing LEDs and the drum stops. Then, a second later, the drum starts again (all LEDs still flashing and beeping) and runs for a few seconds before the drum stops and flashing LEDs and beeping carry on until the machine is switched off.

We have confirmed the PCB is correct one (from serial numbers on them).

I should mention that the above testing was done with the machine partially disassembled but with a link connecting the door switch in place.

Any ideas? I could post a video of the above behaviour on my website if that would help.

    Regards, Martin Winlow

Hi Guys, I have a hoover infinity condenser dryer (approx. 2013) and looking through your videos, I am guessing that the thermostats are shot. I don’t have a multimeter but all the lights flash after a short time and its not warming up. My question is… Is it worth repairing or better to buy a new one?

Dried a couple of loads after not using it for a month or so as nice weather all was well. Went to get last load and not dry, it was still damp and warm. Filter light showed so checked fluff filter and not much in it. Filter light went out. Tried to start but once press start button just makes a noise like something is trying to start but nothing! Un plugged etc and husband has tested sensors and heating thermastats as per video instruction and all good. All normal lights on display etc. Cleaned out all the fluff we could find including where fluff filter sits and in hose and vent etc. Does have the warm smell to it if u know what I mean!? It’s hoover vision HD vented VHV 781C.Drum moves well when moved manually and belt seems tight to drum and noobvious damage we can see. Husband at loss and is driving him bonkers and me also!! He’s thinking started capacitor? Any help much appreciated x

Had E21 error code on my DX C9DG-80. Followed your tutorial and found one of the thermostats failed the continuity test. On closer inspection I noticed a button.Turns out it was a thermal cutout. Joy. Beers on the way. Enjoy.

Watched the tumble dryer video, followed the instructions and found the fault. Repaired jt myself for £18 and that was parts and multi meter price combined. Thanks Paul 👍👍👍

Our candy dryer GVS C9DCG-80 started doing E22 today.

After trying several times on different settings we came across your page. Have tried the heating element thermostats for continuity, left one fails right side bleeps and is fine.

How do we go about fixing this issue. Do we get a whole new heating element or just the thermostat on the left hand side?

    • we may have the thermostat in stock if it is a 206C cut out stat, but without seeing it I am unable to advise but if you can’t get the thermostat then you will have to replace the heating element complete
