How to replace a washing machine door lock on a Bosch, Constructa, Gaggenau, Neff, Schulthess, Siemens, Smeg

 

 

Error fault codes with E01, F08, F16, F34, E61 Error codes Vary on different models starting with WAA, WAE, WAQ, WFF, WFL, WFP, WOK, WOL.

This video will show you how to replace a washing machine door lock (called an interlock); we will show you a step by step procedure on this process. This video can be used on Bosch, Constructa, Gaggenau, Neff, Schulthess, Siemens & some Smeg.

To find your door lock for your Washing Machine you will need the full model number and on some models we will even need the serial number as the manufactures sometimes have fitted more than one type to a model series.

There has been a few different types of door lock fitted on the Bosch manufactured machines over the last few years,
Some have screws holding the door lock in place others have plastic pins which need to be pressed in while sliding the lock One Direction then moving it Backwards and sliding it the other direction.

On older machines you are able to remove the front panel easily.

  • Remove the kick strip, undo doing 2 - 4 screws at the bottom,
  • Remove the wire Band around the door seal,
  • peel the door seal off the frame into washer drum,
  • remove the lid,
  • remove the 3 screws inside the soap draw and one on the side of the panel,
  • behind the facial panel you will find a couple more screws,
  • then the panel slides away giving you access to the door lock,

On the more modern Types they vary as some you can take the  panel off and others are more difficult.

The error codes on these machines can vary from model to model fault codes E01, F08, F16, F34, E61, All are normal related to the door lock. the things you need to check.

  • connection to the circuit board from the door interlock,
  • connection to the lock itself,
  • broken wires on the loom
  • faulty interlock

It is worth trying to clear the error code before you change the door lock, As this might solve the problem. but if the problem persists then you might need to change the door lock

You will need your full model number off the identification plate to be able to identify the correct lock for your machine.

    Hi How-2-repair
    Thank you for your video. I have a question hoping you ca help me. I have a Bosch machine that is not working since one week. I don’t know what is the problem and I don’t know if it’s an error or a piece of the machine. When I choose a program with the door open and then I close the door, the machine tries to put the lock of the door several times (for about 10 seconds) but then nothing happens. The “start” button flashes and I try to activate it but notihng happens. So I tried to program the machine but this time whit the door closed. Again, we hear that the machine tries to put the lock of the door several times but nothing happens and even worst, if I touch the “start” button during the first 5 second, the circuit breakers leap. I thought that it could be the heater or the interference filter but both are ok. Can you help me please??? I don’t know if it’s just an error of the circuit (even if I don’t have an error code on the display). Thank you very much you for your help.

    My contribution to humanity: I’ve been fighting with E61 on my Bosch. At the same time, our Bosch dishwasher was also playing up, repeatedly switching on the cutting out as it tried to move on the cycle. It was only when we tried to reheat pizza in the microwave and it was all lights and no action that I discovered that the wall socket was giving out reduced power. I ran an extension cable from a known good socket and the washing machine ran with no issues. Why reduced power should have resulted in a door lock error I’ve no suggestion, but it’s obviously something to check before expensive callouts and/or replacement parts and machines.

    This instructon was of great help Paul!

    The actual issue was inside the switch, one of the wires of the relais was badly soldered (I think due to the insulation of the wire) and was loose. Wire insulation scratched off with a sharp knife and resoldered. Works again.

    Hi, my Siemens IQ700 Tumble dryer is showing the message “please close the door” when it is already closed. Therefore I am unable to run any cycle. Please can you advise if I can fix this issue myself with your advise or do I need to contact a plumber? Thanks in advance.

    Why the e63 error our washing machine is still there and i cannot reset it, how many times i reset but its working any other ootion how to reset e63?
