Washing machine starts then stops or turns off, Testing printed circuit board PCB capacitor
How to test washing machine cuircuit boards for blown capacitors
If your washing machine starts and then stops or turns off and all the lights go out or the digital display goes blank there is a good chance you may have a fault with the circuit board. You may have a bad connection, a dry joint on one of the components, or you may have a faulty component on the board this could be a resistor, capacitor, relay switch, diode, link switch, or another faulty component.
To test washing machine circuit boards for blown capacitors you can either visually inspect the top of the capacitor for damage. it may be blown or have a domed head as you can see in the picture.
you also can test them with the correct tool which is a Transistor capacitance test meter
I have been using these Transistor capacitance test meters for years testing components on the circuit board and have saved customers thousands of pounds over the years and they only cost around £20 for a reasonable one. I have put it link here
I've also put the link to the left for a cheap desoldering Iron this will save you having to buy a more expensive station,  but if you feel like buying a desoldering station then i have put a link here
It is also with inspecting the circuit board for any other blown components some of these can be tested using the Transistor capacitance test meter, others you cannot be tested without having the right equipment which is very expensive but normally you would get visual signs of damage, It Is Well worth going to the effort as the cost of the new circuit board normally exceeds at least a hundred pound.Â
I have put some components in the photographs below which can be tested and also others that you will have trouble testing without the right equipment.
Hi, I have Hotpoint HVL 241 that stops midway then superwash and door locked lights flash together

good morning ,
i have troubles with my indisit wixl165 washing machine … all the lights are blinking .

Hello, i can’t seem to find any videos of your test rigs, can you help ? thank you.
Wow what a wonderful site
Thank you
iam glad we could help you
I have a Siemens SIWAMAT XLi 1240 washing machine that won’t start its spin cycle after it completes the wash and rinse.
The drum spins okay during the wash but not when it is due to spin dry. It just clicks as if it knows it’s supposed to move on but doesn’t
When not under load the spin cycle can be set and it sometimes works fine, usually after a decent time lapse. I have checked and cleared the tubes and trap and the drive belt is intact and at a good tension.
Samsung washing machine Model #WA16F7L4UWACX6 only filling up then emptying, it is assumed that the control board is bad, I’m having trouble finding one. the board #DC9201446A can you please tell me if you have one that’s compartable and what’s the price thanks in advance
Hi , I have the error F08 with Whirlpool Sport 1273CS (12834) Front Load 7kg washing machine , I am looking for the schematics or repair manual of CCU programmer, as I found in my machine Heating element , Thyristor are fine and I am sure that there is problem in the CCU Programmer board , Please help me with the schematics of CCU , Model : Whirlpool Sport 1273CS (12834) or please let me know which components in programmer board i should check for testing. thanks. Board part no. WPPBA000404B (W10358402). Thanks

Hi, do you knowwhere I could get a schematics for a bosch Exxcel 1000 wfl2000uk. or could you advise on replacement components if I send an image of the damaged part of the PCB. Regards, Peter Grantham. Ps. your youtube video is excellent.
kindly help if indesit IWE91281 flashing light with F18 when i checked online i saw communication error with pcb. please does it have to do with capacitor as well.
Please help out on this error.
thanks
I know my pcb is broke as it all black scorch marks can something else cause this as I don’t want to change it and it blows again many thanks
Have brought a John Lewis machine second hand guy ashore me it it worked. All plumbed in water on when the pre set programs are chosen the door locks then makes a noise as if pump start then spin cycle drops to none time moves to 1 then door unlocks no was happening and all takes a few minutes anyone that can help please do
I recently replaced a water pump(Samsung top load machine) that was burned out but after replacing it with the new one. when the machine was filling water, the pump was draining the water out. Another thing I notes is that by pressing on the ON button the drain motor and the pump were always running.
Hi Paul,
Thank you very much for such an informative and educational lesson on when the machine has an electrical fault on the Printed Circuit board (Control Board). Much appreciated indeed.
