An error code will be displayed on your washing machine or washer/dryer if the machine has a problem. Error codes will be displayed on your machine in one of two ways: Either on your digital display screen which will show an error code in a letter followed by two numbers format, Or washing machines without digital display it will show a series of flashing lights.

There are different ways that these are displayed so you will need to consult your manual on these or let us know your full model number with the fault sequence and we will try and help you.

These lights when flashing should be read in a binary fashion, these are the typical Hotpoint, Ariston, Indesit & Creda  error codes or fault codes for washing machines and dryers.

Now there may be some variances for older models, but there are 3 main types of board listed  so you need to know what you are looking for. This video is on How to Repair Washing Machine Flashing Lights.

    Hi Paul
I have an indesit WIDL126 machine
This morning when I turned it on all nearly of the lights were flashing. From left to right these were
Delay Timer, Easy Iron, Extra Rinse, 1200-600, lock light as well as the 9h light. I turned the machine off at the plug and now when I turn it back on there are less lights flashing …just the Delay Timer, 1200-600 and lock light are flashing.
Please could you tell me what might be wrong with it
    Thank you

    Hello,
I’ve just found your very helpful website but it hasn’t covered my problem with my Hoover SE 147 washing machine.
It has stopped mid-cycle and the led between the spin and cold wash buttons is repeatedly flashing 4 times. The powder tray is empty but the conditioner is still in its tray.
You guidance would be very much appreciated please.
    Many thanks,
    Christopher

    Hi,
I have a aquarius hot piont washing machine which is 11 years old, so far have never needed any work done as never broke down but other week all the lights keep flashing when i put it on, it did do my washing but i called my insurance and nobody came out to see it they just said it will cost to much to get a new one, but they will only give me £56 towards the cost. I’m thinking of getting someone out to look at it do you think the cost of repair will be large.

    • sorry for the late reply
Without seeing the way the lights are flashing It’s very hard for me to understand the fault, you could upload a video to YouTube and send me the link for me to see it,

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WF321 and all lights are flashing constantly at the same time. I have tried turning the power off and back on but still the same. Do you know what has caused this and how I can rectify this. Thanks.

Hi Simpson. Fingers crossed you can help.
I’ve got a Hotpoint Ariston CAWD 129. Put a load on yesterday and it started off well. I could see the drum spinning. When I came back at the end of the wash all the function lights and the start/pause were flashing. When I got the towels out at the end they were super wet as if the final spin hadn’t happened.
I’ve had the machine off and on several times, including overnight, put it on a short wash, put the spin on only, etc. The drum still won’t spin. The pump is working, but the drum isn’t. Every different cycle ends the same with the lights flashing.
I’ve pulled the back off and the belt is good, I’m not sure which connections to test with the multimeter.
Wondering if you have any other ideas.
    THANKS!

      Hi
I’ve taken the board out and have checked out the capacitor. It doesn’t look like a dome like in your video, but I guess changing it won’t hurt. I have the following written on the capacitor v10uF450. should I use the one on this site or find the exact match?
      Thanks
