Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher Soap Dispenser Replacement
How to Replace the Soap and Rinse Aid Dispenser on a Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher
In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of removing and refitting the soap and rinse aid dispenser on a Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher.
The soap and rinse aid dispenser may need to be replaced if the lid has broken off, if there's a rinse aid leak, or if it fails to open due to a faulty solenoid. While the dispenser's design may vary across different makes, the process to access it remains fairly similar. This guide can be useful for other models like Creda, Indesit, Ariston, and Bosch.
Before starting, remember to disconnect the appliance from the main power supply.

Removing the Front Panel
You can start by unscrewing the screws along the inside edge of the door to loosen the front panel. Start from top to bottom, but leave the rail screw intact. Repeat the same process on the other side. Hold the lower part of the door panel at a 90-degree angle with one hand while unscrewing the bottom screw. This prevents the panel from dropping down. After removing the other bottom screw, close the door to remove the panel.
Next, remove the polystyrene and padding to gain access to the back of the dispenser. If you're replacing the dispenser because it's not functioning, you may want to test the solenoid first. Use a multimeter to check for electrical continuity. A reading indicates that the solenoid is functioning correctly.

Replacing the Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher Dispenser & Reassembling
Before removing the retaining brackets, you may want to hold the dispenser in place. The seal sits in a groove around the edge of the dispenser. If the seal is in good condition and properly located, it will form a watertight joint. It's important to ensure that the seal does not protrude between the dispenser and the door, as this could allow steam to get into the door cavity, potentially shorting out some of the terminals on the module.
When fitting the new dispenser, you can use a bit of silicone between the seal and the dispenser to hold it in place. Hold the dispenser with one hand while fitting the top bracket with at least two screws. This allows you to use both hands to fit the lower bracket.
Once the dispenser is securely installed, refit the insulation and the outer door panel. The outer door panel fits onto two lugs on the underside of the control panel and should be raised into place.
After any repairs, be sure to switch the machine off using the on/off button for about 10 seconds, then switch it back on. This will reset the module and clear any fault codes.
