Removing the Back Plate, Fan Guard Plate & Replacing the Fan Motor
Firstly, ensure the appliance is disconnected from the electricity and removed from its location. This facilitates better access to the parts that need to be replaced. Proceed by removing the oven door, which is held in place by catches on either side. Simply fold the catches over and lift the door off.
Next, you will need to remove the oven shelves to get access to the fan guard plate located at the rear of the machine. This plate is secured with four screws in each corner. Once the screws are undone, lift the plate, turn it sideways, and remove it.
Now, you should focus on the fan blade. The nut that holds the fan blade in place is designed to turn clockwise to undo, which is opposite to normal threads.
After removing the fan blade, proceed to the back plate of the oven. This back plate is generally held in place with two screws at the top, a couple at the bottom, and three or four along the sides. Once the screws are undone, remove the back plate.
You can now see the fan motor, which is held in place by three screws. Additionally, there are three wires connected to the fan motor. These wires have locking clips that prevent them from being accidentally pulled off. To remove the wires, push down on the clips and keep working to undo the screws holding the fan motor, turn it anticlockwise about a centimeter or two, and pull it out.
To replace the fan motor, you will reverse the process. Turn the new motor clockwise to lock it into place and reattach the wires. Once the wires are secure, tighten the screws by hand.
Reassembling the Oven
Replace the back plate and ensure it is securely fastened, and then you should focus on installing the fan blade. Guide it into its holes and secure it with the clip system. To tighten the nut, turn it anticlockwise until it is hand tight, and then give it an extra quarter of a turn.
You will now replace the fan guard plate, ensuring it is the right way up, and secure it with the four screws. Finally, replace the oven shelves and the oven door.
By following these steps, you can successfully change your oven's fan element and fan motor. Remember, you can watch our video to avoid any potential problems.
