How To Replace A Cooker Hood Fan Motor?
Cooker Hood Fan Motor Replacement Guide
In this comprehensive guide, we will explain how to rebuild a fan motor in your cooker hood. This tutorial is centered on a tubular fan motor and will guide you through the process of splitting its casing, which is held together by a few screws on the top and around the chassis.
For this task, you will need a small screwdriver to remove the caps and a phillips screwdriver. The fan itself usually requires a 13mm socket.
We would recommend you watch our video since we're showing how easily you can fix the fan motor of the cooker hood extractor.

Dismantling the Fan Motor
You can start by removing the two caps, which is a simple procedure. Next, you should remove the screws on the chassis. Please remember that there are different types of cooker hood motors, and this one is commonly used in canopy extractors for brands such as Hygena and Diplomat.
Once you remove all the screws, you can split the casing to reveal the fan motor. Next, you will need to remove the nut on the fan by turning it anticlockwise. After this, carefully lift off the fan blade, which you can also replace if it's distorted.
Replacing the Cooker Hood Fan Motor
The motor attaches to one half of the casing and may have its wires soldered onto it. If so, you will need a soldering station and solder to attach the wires. Remember to secure the wiring on the casing with a piece of plastic to prevent it from snagging on the fan.
After soldering the old wiring onto the new motor, it's time to attach the new motor to the casing. The only tricky part here is to align the fan blade so it does not touch the casing. When attaching the motor to the casing, please make sure it's firmly attached with no room for movement.
Reassembling the Fan for Cooker Hood
Once you firmly attach the motor to the casing, attach the fan blade. You might need to adjust it to prevent it from touching the casing. After that, attach the other half of the casing and double-check the clearance levels.
The final step involves putting all the screws back in and then reattaching the motor to your cooker hood. The entire procedure is quite straightforward, with the only challenging part being the alignment of the fan blade to prevent it from touching the casing.
Please remember that safety should always be your primary concern when working with electrical appliances. Also, our video includes step-by-step and detailed explanations, which may help you reduce your repair time.
