How To Replace & Fit Samsung Washing Machine Drum Paddle Lifter Or Baffle?
How to Replace a Damaged Drum Paddle on a Samsung Washing Machine
In this comprehensive guide, we will explain how to replace a damaged drum paddle on a Samsung washing machine. This task can be a bit tedious due to the design of the Samsung washer. Unlike other washing machines that use locking tabs to hold the paddle in place, Samsung washing machine has placed a screw on the underside of the drum. This screw is located between the inner and outer drum, and its position does not align with the sump hose hole. Instead, it aligns with a hose located at the top of the machine.

Safety First!
- Unplug your Samsung washing machine before starting work.
- Organize screws and parts meticulously to avoid confusion during reassembly.
Tools You'll Need:
- Screwdrivers (phillips or flat blade)
Removing the Washing Machine Lid & the Steam Hose
To start, you will need to remove the lid of the washing machine. This can be simply done by unscrewing the two screws located at the back of the machine and sliding the lid away.
Next, remove the steam hose located at the top of the machine. You can do it by removing the two clips that hold it in place and pulling the hose off. Once this is done, you can rotate the drum until the screw hole aligns with the opening where the hose was.
Locating & Replacing the Drum Paddle
There are three paddles in the washing machine. You will need to rotate the drum until the damaged paddle comes to the top, and there you will find the screw. The screw is usually corroded and might be slightly loose. It is important to clean this out before attempting to unscrew it to avoid rounding the head of the screw.
If the screw head is too worn out to use a phillips screwdriver, a flat blade screwdriver with a sharpened edge that fits perfectly into the screw head can be used. However, you may need to apply some force to turn it. Note that the screw may drop when you undo it; however, a magnet cannot be used to retrieve it due to its location.
Once the screw is removed, you can replace the damaged drum paddle with a new one. Ensure that you order the correct drum paddle for your specific Samsung washing machine model. You can find the full model number either on the inside of the door or on the back of the machine.
Reassembling the Washing Machine
After replacing the damaged drum paddle, reattach the steam hose and secure it with the two clips. Then, slide the lid back onto the top of the machine and secure it with the two screws.
By following these steps, you can successfully replace a damaged drum paddle on a Samsung washing machine. Remember to clean your drum paddle regularly to prevent damage and increase the longevity of your machine.
