How To Replace Tumble Dryer Belt | Creda, Ariston, Indesit & Hotpoint Tumble Dryer Belt Replacing
Welcome to this tutorial on how to install a belt on a Hotpoint TDL tumble dryer. This guide also applies to some Creda, Indesit, and Ariston models. Before starting, remember to switch off the power supply and unplug the machine. Having a small container to hold screws as you remove them is also useful.
Please remember that, when working with any electrical appliances, safety should always be your top priority, and we also suggest you watch our video.

Dismantling the Hotpoint TDL Tumble Dryer: Lid, Console Panel, and Timer Knob
The lid of this machine is secured by two screws under the back ledge, though some models may have three. To remove it, lift slightly and push backwards. The console panel is held by two screws on the left side. Be cautious when removing these screws to avoid them falling inside the cabinet. A magnetic tip Philips screwdriver is particularly useful in this situation.
To remove the timer knob, use a pair of pliers with a piece of cloth between the jaws to prevent damage. After this, the panel can be moved to the right and lifted off. Disconnect the two wires on the half heat button. If there are multiple switches, remember to label the wires for each one. It's important to match the correct wires to each switch, though the specific terminal on the switch isn't crucial.
If you're not familiar with how to replace the Hotpoint tumble dryer belt, we recommend you watch our video thoroughly.
Removing the Front Panel and Installing the New Belt to Hotpoint Tumble Dryer
Next, remove the screws securing the door lock. It's easier to do this now while the panel is still attached to the cabinet. The kick strip can be removed by gripping either side and easing it out.
There are several screws on the bottom of the front panel that need to be removed. It's preferable to remove these before the top ones, allowing you to hold the panel and prevent it from falling. Do not remove the screws on the far outside of the silver panel as they hold part of the cabinet together. After the bottom screws are removed, proceed with the top ones.
Grip the inside of the door opening and gently pull the front panel away from the cabinet. Be careful with the wiring still connected to the switch and exhaust thermostat. Once these are disconnected, the panel can be moved aside.
You will also need to remove the internal air ducting tube and set it aside. This will be reattached from the back during reassembly. Clean the inside of the cabinet as thoroughly as possible to remove fluff and dust build-up.
The belt on the Hotpoint tumble dryer is a stretchy type that fits directly around the drum and motor pulley. To install the new belt, loop it over the front of the drum and slide it back to the mark left by the original belt. Secure it in place with about three pieces of tape on the drum.
You can find the part you need by entering your model number in the search bar on our website.
To install the belt on the motor shaft, use a screwdriver as a lever between the drum and the belt. Hook the end under the motor shaft and lever the belt down. Slide the belt onto the motor shaft and remove the screwdriver.
A broken belt can cause your tumble dryer to stop working properly, but with this guide, you should be able to repair the problem by yourself.
We would recommend you watch our video since we're showing you how easily you can change the belt and maintain your Hotpoint TDL tumble dryer.
