How to Test and Replace the Fan Motor in Your Beko Electric Oven?
In this guide, I'll explain the process of testing and replacing the fan motor in your Beko electric oven. Our video specifically demonstrates a Beko CIMYA91B cooker oven, but even if you have a freestanding cooker, a built-in double oven, or a built-in single oven, the principles will apply.
The fan oven motor is designed to distribute the air evenly within the oven cavity. The stronger the fan motor and flow of air, the more quickly and evenly it cooks. A fan motor that is running slowly will not be able to distribute the air around the food correctly, therefore either slightly overcooking the food on one side or not cooking evenly.
Testing the fan oven motor to check the windings is good for maintenance, but if the motor windings have become weak, your oven's motor may have trouble rotating the blade at the correct RPM.
By watching our video above, you will learn how to test & replace a fan oven motor on these makes manufactured by Beko: Altus, Arcelik, Arctic, Atlas, Aya, Blomberg, Cylinda, Davoline, Defy, Elektra Bregenz, Eskimo, Euromaid, Faber, Federal, Flavel, Grundig, Haka, Howden, Lamona, Leisure, Logik, Magic, Montpellier, Perfect, Point, Privileg, Rotenzo, Stoves, Winstar.
Tools You Can Use
- Screwdrivers (phillips and flat-head)
- Multimeter (There is an affiliate link below)
- RPM Tachometer (Optional but recommended and also there is an affiliate link below)
- A torch or kind of light for visibility
Symptoms of a Failing Fan Oven Motor
- Uneven Cooking: Food burns at the back while remaining undercooked at the front.
- Slow or No Spinning: The fan motor may not start or turn very slowly.
- Noise: Unusual noises from the fan motor may indicate worn-out bearings or other issues.

Step 1: Safety First
Before starting any repairs, you must isolate the electricity at the fuse board. The oven may be hardwired or plugged in, so you will need to make sure the power is completely off to avoid any electrical hazards.
Step 2: Removing Your Beko Oven Door
Removing the oven door will lighten the load and prevent damage to the glass. On older models, there are catches on either side of the door hinges that need to be bent. On modern models, you should simply press down on the catches to release the door. If you are in doubt, you can watch our video as a guide. At 02:20, I'm showing how to remove the door and lift out your oven from the cabinet.
Step 3: Accessing the Fan Oven Motor
- Remove the Oven from its Housing: If you have a built-in oven, you may need help from your friend to lift it out. If you are doing it on your own, you should first remove the screws that hold the oven in place and carefully slide it out.
- Remove the Back Panel: Now, you should undo the screws on the back panel of the oven to access the fan motor. Be careful as the edges can be sharp and may damage your skin.
Step 4: Testing the Fan Oven Motor
- Visual Inspection: At this step, you should make sure whether the fan blade rotates freely by hand or not since any resistance may indicate worn bearings.
- RPM Check: It's optional, but I recommend you use an RPM tachometer to check the fan's speed. You can also attach a small piece of silver tape to the blade, as I did in the video. Then, simply turn on the oven and use the tachometer to measure the speed. It should be around 1200 RPM.
- Electrical Test: You will also need to use a multimeter to check for continuity and proper voltage. Disconnect the motor first and test the resistance across the terminals. A typical reading for a new motor should be around 108 ohms. You can find step-by-step sequence in the video for using the multimeter and tachometer.
If you dont't have a tachometer, you can get one from this affiliate link. If you want to get new multimeter as well, please visit this affiliate link.
Step 5: Replacing Your Oven's Fan Motor
- Remove the Fan Blade: You should be taking care of the nut in the center of the fan blade since it undoes in the clockwise direction. Once you remove the nut, wiggle the blade off the shaft.
- Unscrew the Motor: Next, you will remove the screws holding the motor in place. Carefully twist and pull the motor out.
- Install the New Motor: Now, you can align the new motor correctly, ensuring the shaft length matches the original. Secure it with screws.
Step 6: Reassembling the Oven
- Reattach the Fan Blade: Align the indentation on the blade with the motor shaft and secure it with the nut, turning anticlockwise to tighten.
- Replace the Back Panel: Reattach the back panel and secure all screws.
- Reconnect the Oven: Place the oven back into its housing and reconnect the electrical supply.
- Test the Oven: Turn on the oven and ensure the fan motor operates smoothly and at the correct speed.
