Types of System

Off Grid

Off Grid systems are specifically designed for properties which have no mains supply or who do not wish to use the mains supply. These types of systems are generally larger as there is no mains supply to fall back on.

Grid Tied / Hybrid

Their are two main types of Grid Tied Systems. Standard Grid Tied & Hybrid. Standard Grid Tied Systems are designed to deliver solar generated energy to the home directly with any excess being sent back to the grid. This type of system does not have batteries and does not provide power during a power cut. Hybrid Systems are very similar to Grid Tied but they do have a battery. Energy is used directly by the home with excesses being used to charge the battery, only after the battery is fully charged will any excess energy be sent to the grid. These systems can be used during a power cut.

Solar Thermal

Solar Thermal systems are used to heat water instead of create electricity. The sunshine heats glycol in the panel which naturally circulates around the tanks heat exchanger thus heating the water in the tank. This type of system also is not reliant on electrical power so operates during power cuts.
