If your Bosch dishwasher is over filling or constantly pumping out is a good indication that the flow meter or impeller jug has gone faulty. It can also mean that the base of the machine, where the electrics are, is getting water into this compartment and therefore due to safety reasons the machine´s safety switch floats, and therefore pumps the water out of the machine to stop the machine actually flooding the electrical compartment.
You can see here some of the components of the dishwasher, where the base float switch is, and the water valve that goes into the flow meter.

I wasn’t convinced that my 9-year old Bosch Classixx dishwasher was dead when told by an engineer, after two hours, that the programmer had gone and that I should buy a new dishwasher.
I googled the problem – occasionally over filling and flooding, then taking in water and constantly pumping out so the programme never actually started. I found your video and diagnosed a flow meter problem.
With nothing to lose, I bought an impeller jug & spent 90 minutes with the video alongside, pausing when necessary and managed to successfully change the part. Just couldn’t believe it! It has now worked perfectly for three days.
I am now waiting for the engineer to come back so that I can show him how to fix his next dishwasher with this problem.
Thank you for such a clear, easy-to-follow video. It was just like following a recipe or knitting pattern!

Hi Paul, my Kenmore – Bosch dishwasher is filling and draining as shown in your video. My dishwasher does not have an impeller jug. Any idea what the problem solution might be?

this is a us make i think and i have not worked on this model yet
Mine was doing this, following having to turn mains electric power off. To reboot the dishwasher, I pressed the start/stop button in for about ten seconds until the ‘end’ light came on. Turned the dial to off. Then turned the dial to the wash I wanted and it was back to normal!

Mine had the same problem and i replaced the flowmeter. The first wash cycle (auto) worked fine, but the problem then returned. It doesn’t stop either when it gets to 1 minute. There’s no leak as far as i can tell because no water visible when I tilt the machine.

Hi Paul,
Had a similar problem but my Classix is different. The base is one soild piece so cannot be removed. There are just two screws holding in the side panel that needs removing but took me some time to see how to remove the lid by lifting up the white plastic parts at the rear (that look like hinges) and sliding the lid back. Then side panel slides back easily.
The impeller jug is different and located on the side of the machine with an inline turbine like impeller.
Although different you video was a great help in working out the problem and how to replace the part.

Bosch dishwasher smv50c00gb/01. Starts as normal pumping out takes in some water pumps that out then the end light comes on this takes about 2 minutes. what would the problem be

I have a Bosch Exxcel Dishwasher, model SMS50E12GB/16, Type: SM6P1B.
The dishwasher developed a fault where it would initially fill with water and operated fine for the initial rinse, but then on it’s second filling it would display error E14 and also the ‘Check Water’ indicator would display.Having read lots of online forums it appears that the fault might be due to a faulty Reed switch for the flow meter. Therefore I ordered a replacement part, # 00611317. But fitting the new sensor is causing some issues!
I’ve removed the side of the dishwasher and have located the reed switch in the plastic water chamber. The reed switch is on the back of the chamber sandwiched against the metal side of the machine. I need to work out how to remove the chamber so I can get access to the sensor.
I think the chamber is secured to the side of the machine by two inlet pipes which pass through the side of the machine – I assume these pump the water in/out.
The pipe at the bottom easily screwed off. But the larger pipe higher up on the machine wall doesn’t want to budge (photo attached). Does anyone know how to remove this? is it screwed in place or clipped in place somehow?

I have a problem with my dishwasher. The program is finish sucesufully but the water never warming. I checked the PCB, the heating element and all its ok. Any idea what is going on?

i have Bosch dishwasher model SHX7ER55UC/50 which keeps throwing the E-15 code and the only way to shut it off is hit the breaker.
We left it off for a couple days and switched it back and it worked for about a week before throwing that E-15 code again.
Not sure what the deal is any ideas?

Hi Paul, I have a Bosch dishwasher model SHU3302UC/U12 (year ?). When the power button is pressed the pump seems to be running but it won’t fill, the water inlet valve is new.
The problem started after we noticed some water had leaked on the floor, when the door was opened there was water inside even though the dishwasher had not been running. The water seemed to have been leaking past the door seal. I switched on the dishwasher & the water drained out but no cycle. Do you have any pointers ?

Good morning Gavin the first thing you will need to do is dry the base of the machine out, as there is a float switch which puts the machine in safety mode if water is present in the base this will stop the machine from functioning. you will then need to work out where the leak is coming from.

I have a Bosch SGV43E03GB/08 dishwasher.
Electrics are working but no water is entering the machine. There is a humming noise coming from the aquaswitch as if it’s stuck. I have tried putting water into the machine to kick-start it but to no avail. I then end the wash program and the dishwasher drains fine.
Any ideas of what part is required and how to fit it?

If you can have a humming noise from the water valve this is a good sign that the valve is ok. please check the water supply to the valve.

I have checked the water supply (turned off/on) it’s fine but the humming noise continues either way. There are no blockages as water empty’s no problem when put in and I end the wash program. Is it possible that there is too much limescale in the pipe to stop water entering machine as I live in a hard water area?
Yes it is very possible that the fill chamber on the left hand side Of the machine can fill with calcium they are very small pipes, this could be the problem as the humming noise it’s giving me a good indication that the valve is working correctly

It doesn’t seem to have worked. The symptoms are just as in your guide. I’ve recorded the process after fitting the part. Perhaps this may help with further diagnosis.

I have a 10 year old Bosch Classixx dishwasher with water in the overflow tray which has raised the float valve. It continually pumps out, but no fresh water enters. Tipping the machine to empty the tray restores operation temporarily. I assume the water (which is dirty) has come from a leak on the outlet side. Can you advise what may have failed to cause the leak?

Thanks for the video tutorial. I’ve got a Bosch SGS45C02GB/02 and it’s stopped washing and shows the symptoms you describe. I’d already bought a genuine Bosch replacement impeller jug 424099 (having been told by someone else that that could be the problem). But your tutorial was much more useful both with reinforcing the diagnosis and showing how to get to the part!
Unfortunately, having replaced the impeller jug the behaviour is exactly the same. Water fills; after about a minute the water check light comes on; then a minute later the pump starts emptying; the water keeps filling; and so on.
Pulling up the float starts the emptying process quite happily.
Any ideas?

I have a Bosch she98m05uc. it’s a digital read out and says “check water supply” I’m a pretty handy guy, fix lots of appliances in my house, saw your video and had a question for you. I see the impeller jug, and the white braided on the outlet side of the impeller is discolored kinda dark yellow. The white braid from the water inlet to the impeller is white, kinda weird, everything else is white.
Anyway I’m pretty sure it’s either the impeller or the water inlet valve….any thoughts?

I’ve a slimline Bosch SD4P1B, just over 2yrs old. Not used regularly. Tried to use it last night but it won’t fill with water and the pump is running continuously even when the door is open. No sign of leaks. Also no lights on the control panel. As it isn’t filling I’m wondering if your video isn’t the one that can guide me and I should be embarking on a different solution?
