Hi There, I live in the Algarve, Portugal and the electricity bills are getting out of hand. can you recommend a solar panel system which will help reduce my electricity bills. I live in a standard 3 bedroom house and have a moderate energy consumption. thanks.

Location: Faro, Portugal.

The Customers Problem:

Our customer in Faro, Portugal has come to us with his power problem. The problem is on high electricity bills, the customer is currently paying around €250 Per Month for electricity. He has sought our advice for the purchase and installation of a Solar PV System with Battery Backup & Self-Consumption.

Our Solution:

After closely assessing his needs we came up with the solution to his problem. We specified the following system.

System Specification

12 X 270-Watt Poly Solar Panels

1 X Victron EasySolar 48/3000 With Color Control

1 X Victron BMV702 Battery Monitor

2 X BYD B Plus Lithium Ion Batteries

1 X BYD BMU (Battery Management Unit)

1 X Set of Schletter Roof Mounting System for 12 Panels (3 Rows of 4)

1 X Set of All Cables, Connectors, Isolators & Installation Materials.

TOTAL COST: €7,263.55

This is a grid interactive system which will be connected to the power grid, but with no energy being fed back into the grid. The system is designed to act as an off-grid system and power backup system but with the grid connectivity to handle high spikes in power consumption.

The 12 Solar Panels have a combined wattage of 3.24kW which will produce on average 22kWh Per Day.

The systems inverter charger can deliver a constant supply of 2.4kW constantly. While also connected to a 5.0kWh Lithium Ion Battery Bank which can store energy for night time usage.

The inverter charger and electronics part of the system is guaranteed for 5 years while the BYD Lithium Ion Battery is guaranteed for 10 years.

This system delivers the customer enough power to run his home without worrying about the cost of electricity. He also has the added comfort factor that if a power cut arises he will not be without power.

After installing this system, the customer will cut his bill down to the bare minimum.
