Zanussi ZI921/8FFA Fridge Freezer Freezing up

by / Thursday, 25 June 2020 / Published in

The freezer section of my fridge freezer started extensively icing up a few months ago around the evaporator and fan. I have checked door seals, thermostat (2 in one) and defrost heater element all seem fine. Over the last week or two the freezer isn't icing as badly but the top of the fridge is now icing up. Can you please advise what i should check next? Thanks

I will try and help with your Zanussi ZI921/8FFA Fridge Freezer problem.

This model has many production runs with PNCs 92577172101, 92577172102, 92577172201, 92577172100, 92577171301, 92577171300, 92577173500, 92577171302, 92577171800, 92577171802 and 92577171801 respectively. When ordering parts for your model, check against your specific PNC as parts may differ between production runs.

This is a frost free model and all the cold is produced on the freezer compartment. Once the freezer is at temperature is blows cold air into the fridge compartment with assistance of a fan. To control the fridge temperature a Refrigerator Probe is used. Either that is faulty or there is a problem with the PCB. The manufacturers exploded diagram does not show this component, but it should be somewhere in the fridge cabinet, either in plain sight or behind a plastic cover. Worst case scenario it does not show up because it is inside the insulation foam and you'd need to cut into it to "fish" it out. Let's hope that is not the case.

I've included a picture of the probe with a link that you can use to purchase one, but do make sure you can find the one in your fridge before spending money on parts.
