Ariston washer/dryer ARWDF129NA bearing change or new drum

by / Thursday, 12 March 2015 / Published in

Comment: Can you help - please? Our Ariston washer/dryer ARWDF129NA, S/N 302146204 (model for the USA market, made in Italy - although labeled "Ariston" it seems that the company is Indesit) was replaced by another machine because of the broken drum bearing which was deemed "unrepairable" by the company in the US. Before taking to trash the otherwise good machine (1 year old) and cannibalizing it for "parts", after looking at your video instructions I would like to try changing the broken bearing. I could not get the information in the US which bearing kit would be appropriate for this model, i.e. P/N for the bearing kit ordering. In the repair manual it is not even listed among the "spare parts" and my contacts with the company on the East and West Coast did not get me the information. Is it really "unrepairable" or it would simply be too expensive (for the company) to venture into a repair? I know that this sounds amateurish, but after watching your video instructions I would like to try my hand at it. In any case I will have to take the machine apart. Can you help?Best regards,Goran LacanLos Angeles, USA

Hi Goran

Ariston is part of the merloni group which make Ariston, Creda, indesit, Hopoint etc

there is only one way to tell if you can change the bearings on this, take the lid of and see if there are screws holding the 2 halves of drum together if not, then its is plastic welded and you have to have a new drum. the manufacturer should not be making drums where you cant fit new bearings its built in obsolescence to make people buy new. these video below will help with bearing changes if possible. sorry I don't have more info on this model but i only have data for European models
