Hi,We have used all the leading machine cleaners, without success. Could there be a build of scale and bacteria between the inner and outer drums. If so how do I get access to clean the top of the outer drum

I will try and help with your Bush RET721C washing machine problem.

this is a big problem with the cheaper machines you are not able to split the drum to gain access but I have some suggestions for you, if the waste hose on the washing machine comes out at the bottom of the machine you could disconnect the machine from the electrical supply, keep the waste hose High and fill the machine through the soap drawer Until the drum is full of water I can't really recommend what detergent to put in there but if the drum soaked in this water for 24 hours with bleach it would help clean the whole drum assembly, to empty the machine would be quite simple you would only need to lower the hose the ground level and the Machine will siphon itself. I would definitely not try an empty the machine with the electrical system because it may go into a spin with that amount of water in the machine and this would damage the washing machine. when this has been done I would then immediately put the machine back on with some bleach and some old rags and put it on a boil wash. the reason why you end up with this much bacteria building up inside the drum is that people are washing at the lower temperatures and you should always once a month do a boil wash in the washing machine as this will help keep the machine clean also do the boil wash with some old rags etc.  I have included a video below to show you how to clean a soap drawer which is another area which builds up with bacteria
