Sometimes the machine turns the water in the drum a dirty brown clown and leaves brown spots on clothes

Beko Washing Machine WMB81241LB Drum not turning
For a few weeks the spin cycle was incredibly noisy and now the drum doesn’t turn at all – the motor is working, it’s draining but the drum doesn’t move – there’s resistance if you try turning by hand. Could this be a drive belt or something else?
