Is your Beko Condenser Tumble Dryer not drying, shows water tank light even when the tank is dry?

If your water tank light comes on but there's no water in the container and the machine shuts down after about 1 or 2 minutes, it's likely a simple fix related to the water pump system.

In this repair guide, we will focus on the pump itself and how to address the water container light issue caused by a blockage.

We recommend you watch the whole video to fully understand the working mechanism of the Beko Condenser Tumble Dryer's drainage pump. In this way, you will easily be able to solve your persistent water tank light problem.

Safety First!

  • Unplug your condenser tumble dryer before starting disassembly.
  • Organize screws and parts meticulously to avoid confusion during reassembly.

Tools You'll Need:

  • Screwdrivers (various sizes)
  • Soft sponge or similar material and a bucket to drain the water from the pump unit.

Let's Remove the Back Plate / Side Panels / Lid

  • There are two screws at the top and one on the pump unit itself.
  • Additionally, there is a series of screws along the side.
  • Note the screw lengths and their locations, as some are designed for plastic while others for steel.
  • After unscrewing, gently tap the panel backward and lean it over to remove it.

We've Removed the Side Panel, Now Let's Discuss the Hoses and Their Functions

  • There are two hoses: a light gray one leading to the bottom of the collection tank and a dark gray one from the pump to the top.
  • Additionally, there are other tubes serving as drain points for condensed water to flow to the pump unit, with another hidden underneath.
  • Regarding airflow, it circulates from the drum through the heater, down the filter system, through the condenser, and back up to the heater, forming the hot air circuit.
  • The condensing process involves drawing air in from the front of the machine, passing it through the condensing unit's side, and expelling it outside, creating a cooling effect on the condensing plate. This plate collects water, draining it down another pipe beneath the machine to the pump unit.

Understand and Clean Your Beko Condenser Tumble Dryer’s Pump

At this point, you should know that, when your condenser tumble dryer keeps drying and condensing, it fills the pump unit chamber with water. But if the clothes dryer can't transfer the water to the top tank, the light stays on even though the container appears empty. Now, let's examine the pump:

  • To access the pump unit, remove the hose attached to it by pressing it onto the pump and threading it up to release the catches.
  • Then, it allows you to fold down the pump unit.
  • Here, we have two pipes: one for return and one for the feed from the pump.
  • You'll notice two wires attached to the pump for live and neutral, along with a micro switch in the up position.
  • This switch activates when the float rises due to the chamber being full of water, indicating that the gray tube is filled with water.
  • You need to take a closer look at your machine's pump unit chamber since fluff or dirt can accumulate inside the pump unit, likely due to inadequate maintenance.
  • You'll probably notice that your machine has sucked up the fluff. If so, you must need to extract the dirts from the pump.
  • There may be more inside, so you will need to carefully separate the pump housing, as the catches are delicate.
  • Please watch our video on how to gently remove the pump from the chamber without damaging it, and then test the pump.
  • Now, you need to continue with the final steps. You will notice that inside the pump unit, as you know there is a float that shows you the level of the undrained water.
  • Ensure the float is clean and remove all the water and fluff accumulated inside.
  • It might take a few minutes using a sponge to soak up the water and clean out the fluff.
  • Now, it's time to quickly reinstall the pump, the side panels, and the lid. To be able to do that, please watch our video to correctly complete this process.
