The most common in my view is the impeller jamming on the pump normally something small like a piece of chipped china or bit of broken glass, this can be removed with tweezers or pin nose pliers. After removing it should rotate easily by hand… then you should replace the pump cover and the filter above it must be locked by aligning the blue arrows so that large bits of rubbish cannot get into the impeller again.

There are two types of pump covers one is held on with a screw and the other clips into place.

In a lot of people’s houses they have the dishwasher plumed into a sink unit and the fittings can get clogged and also blocked with fat, some have a cross inside the spigot and this gets blocked with all kinds of stuff.

When you push the dishwasher into place the pipes can get trapped and kinked so make sure that this does not happen. Sometimes the waste pipe has kinked when it was fitted and over time the dishwasher is getting worse at emptying and this is when the E25 fault starts occurring.dishwasher trapped or kinked waste hose

Bosch, Neff or Siemens Dishwasher prone to the seal failing and water can get insideThe last fault is the pump has failed or it is only working intermittently. The new type of modern pump has the armature inside the pump housing and is prone to the seal failing and water can get inside and reduce the inefficiency of the pump.

Hi Paul: Please know that I cannot work on the dishwasher myself, so I called for tech support. When he came I was not here but he told one of our staff that the problem was in the plumbing, not so because we had a plumber come out and work on the drainage. WE ARE STILL NOT ABLE TO USE THE DISHWASHER, Error 25 is the problem. When the tech comes out again, have him view the video maybe then he can fix it. There will be two people present when he comes on Monday, and he can communicate with them what he did or will do to resolve this problem. I love the dishwasher, when it is working.
        Sincerely, Hope Guajardo, Secretary

        Hi there.
Really hoping you can help me out. I had the e25 error, checked impellor etc. All looked good so l figured pump must have failed.
Just installed a brand new pump but unfortunately l am still getting the e25 error.
        Any suggestions?
        Cheers.
        Grant.

One of the most useful videos we’ve seen this year. Thanks so much for bothering to put this out there. We found broken glass in ours, but the dishwasher is working a treat.

  6. steve b says :

cheers for the help, found broken glass again.

  7. Aleida says :

Thank you for the tutorial. It was a great help and I’ve fixed the dishwasher. It was a rubber band!
    I’ve bought you a beer
    Cheers!

I have just moved into a house with a fitted Bosch dishwasher, I ran a test run and the dishwasher was left with quite a substantial amount of water at the bottom, on later inspection I noticed the sump cover was missing (the little plastic cover, which sits above the pump held down with a screw). I have ordered a new cover, am i right in thinking this is the reason it wont be emptying? as the pump has no direction to send the water down the drain? Does this make sense?

  9. Penny says :

Superb tutorial! Found an elastic band fouling the impeller. So pleased to have cured the fault which was intermittent but annoying! Have bought you a beer!

  10. This was a very helpful video. Found particles just where the video showed.

  11. Francis says :

Hi , I have the E25 fault code but my Siemens SN25M831GB/03 does drain but not on the last drain on the cycle . Tried changing cycles, same fault . The filter and impeller are clean , no debris , the impeller turns freely . The out let seems block free and have tried a cycle emptying into a bucket , same fault occurs .
    Any ideas please, thanks .
    Francis .

  12. Sharon says :

Thanks for the tutorial, found a ring pull from a can in the impeller, working perfectly now 🙂

  13. Jay says :

Thanks a million! A little piece of plastic tape almost ruined our dinner! And such a simple remedy!

  14. ElaineB says :

beer from me too – some odd piece of plastic was found!

  15. Rafael Lomeli says :

I followed your video exactly as you presented and I also found a small glass chard. Thank you so very much!!!

  16. Lara says :

Thanks so much for this tutorial, managed to get my dishwasher up and running again without recourse to the repair service! 2 bits of glass found blocking the impeller pump.

  17. Vicky says :

Thanks, this is a great tutorial however on my Bosch Logixx Slim dishwasher SrS56L08GB/16 It doesn’t seem to have any of the options you described for accessing the pump. I can remove the filter, which i’ve cleaned, and I’ve removed all of the water so I can seem the little grill which enters into the pump. I’ve tried to unscrew the surround of the sump but it won’t fully lift out as it’s attached to Salt container. Is there another way to access the pump to get for obstructions?

  18. Annie says :

Awesome thanks fixed it. Great video!!

  19. Mark says :

Just a quick word to say Thank You!!! My Bosch Dishwasher was displaying E.25 and I followed your instructions to the letter, but the problem persisted. It wasn’t until the 3rd repeat that I dislodged a small piece of glass that was impeding the impeller!! How it got past the filter is beyond me!! Thanks so much for saving the cost and hassle of having to hire a repair guy who probably would have charged me for replacing the impeller altogether!!! Great Job!

  20. Mark says :

Great! Many thanks. Did exactly as you said and found part of a mussel shell.
