Hotpoint dhs53cx Cooker Main Oven not heating properly
I will try and help with this problem with Hotpoint dhs53cx Cooker Oven
there are a few things that may be causing this problem
- 1st the fan motor is not turning at the correct speed therefore the air is not Distributing around the cooker
- 2nd the fan oven element is not heating correctly or breaking down.
- 3rd the thermostat could be cutting out too early you need to make sure that the little red light stays on when it stops heating this will indicate you may have a thermostatic problem.
- 4th you will see in the diagram below C00199503 this is a cut-out thermostat this may be going open circuit too early, in other words, the oven is heating up in the outer casing too much.
- 5th the selector switch may be causing a problem this is quite common you need to check it for burning or bad contacts see video below

For your future reference, I’ve included some Common faults with these Hotpoint dhs53cx Oven cookers to assist you in the future or anyone else reading this.
- The oven will not turn on
The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is turn it on to manual. - No Heat in Oven
If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed. - Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill
This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault. - The grill element doesn't work
This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature. - The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy
The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems. - The oven overheats and burns everything
Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom. - The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while
This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.

Hi I have a hotpoint dhs53cx electric oven, the grill element wasn’t getting hot so I thought the element had gone, replaced today with a new one and it is still not getting hot or even warm, just noticed when I turn the grill knob at the front the light doesn’t come on could you please help
