Miele w5740 washing machine error code f138 not starting & water in the bottom of the washer
I have a Miele washing machine w5740 that is showing an error code f138 and the washing machine is not starting. I did pull it out to have a look and there was some water in the bottom of the machine. I cleaned it up and it worked for a while but it is started showing this error again. What should I do my friend has an older machine and he said he had the same problem and his was showing a different error he said he had two flashing lights on the right-hand side, and the timer is just showing straight lines in the dial and the machine would not start, he found that he had a leak on the door seal and replaced it, and it solved the problem,My question is how can I work out where the water is coming from?

Troubleshooting a Leaking Miele W5740 Washing Machine
Safety First!
Before you start, ensure the washing machine is unplugged from the mains power. Never work on a washing machine when it's plugged in.
Things to check first
Take the side panels off the machine leave the front panel connected
Inspect the washing machine hoses for any splits or cracks. Look around all the components for any signs of leaks in the past. This sometimes can be spotted by white marks where the water has dried.
Ensure the drain hose is properly positioned and isn’t kinked.
Door Seal
The door seal, or gasket, is one of the most common areas for leaks. Examine the seal for any signs of wear & tear.
Open the door and feel around the seal. Look for any gaps, especially at the bottom where water can accumulate.
If the seal is damaged, it will need to be replaced.
Detergent Drawer
Leaks can sometimes originate from the detergent drawer, especially if it’s clogged or not sealing properly. Also inspect the soap drawer fill hose.
Pull out the drawer and inspect for any blockages or soap build-up.
Clean the drawer and ensure it's fitted correctly when returned.
Pump & Filter
The filter, located at the bottom front of most Miele washing machines, can be a source of leaks if not properly secured or if it's clogged. Check the shaft on the motor pump for any signs of leakage, Open the flap and unscrew the filter cap.
Check the filter for any obstructions and clean it. Ensure it's screwed back securely.
Internal Hoses
Leaks can occur from the various internal hoses connecting components inside the machine.
Check the condition of all hoses, looking for signs of wear or damage.
Look for any loose connections or clamps that might be causing a drip.
Tub and Drum
Check the seal that holds the 2 half's of the drum together Inspecting this might be a bit more involved:
Valves and Connectors
Check that there are no leaks on the water valve, or any components attached to it
Water inlet valves and other connectors can sometimes fail or become loose.
Examine all connectors and ensure they’re tightly secured. If a valve seems to be dripping, it might need replacement.
The waste pipe from the pump normally goes to a box at the back of the machine. This is sometimes called an antisiphon device they can get cracked.
Once you have checked all the components, it is worth putting the machine through a cycle while the side panels are off, but make sure you do not leave the machine unattended, especially if you have children when the machine is going through a cycle you might be able to visibly see a leak.
