Beko Washing Machine Not Draining & E05 Error Code Repair Guide

Is your washing machine taking a long time to complete the wash cycle and still has water in the drum when it's finished?

Your machine may not display an error code, but it might have an error stored in the diagnostic sequence intended for engineers. On normal displays, this would show as E05, while on LED versions, it’s stored differently.

This guide will show you how to access the diagnostic sequence to find the error code and explain the common problems that can cause this issue. Washing Machine E05 error code indicates that the machine has not emptied in the allocated time, preventing it from spinning the clothes dry. This is a common problem often caused by simple issues.

Please remember that, when working with washing machines or any electrical appliances, safety should always be your top priority, and we also suggest you watch our video.

How To Diagnose Beko Washing Machine Error?

If your washing machine is full of water and not displaying an error code, you'll need to enter diagnostic mode to check for any hidden error codes. Follow these steps:

  1. Turn the machine off.
  2. Hold down the start/pause button.
  3. While holding the button, turn the dial to position 1 (1200 RPM). The 1200 light should come on.
  4. If the diagnostic mode does not activate, repeat the steps until it does.

Once in diagnostic mode, if you see two lights illuminated on the spin cycle (no spin and 800 RPM), this indicates an error code. You can understand the error code by decoding the BCD (binary-coded decimal) values:

  • No Spin: Value of 1
  • 600 RPM: Value of 2
  • 800 RPM: Value of 4
  • 1000 RPM: Value of 8
  • 1200 RPM: Value of 16

For example, if no spin (value of 1) and 800 RPM (value of 4) lights are on, add the values to get an error code of E05, meaning the machine couldn't spin or empty in the allocated time.

Draining the Water From Beko Washing Machine

Before working on the machine, you need to drain the water:

  1. Open the inspection hatch for the filter, but do not remove the filter yet to avoid flooding.
  2. Use a small tray to collect the water, and pull out the drainage pipe to let the water flow.
  3. Once drained, unplug the machine, wait two minutes, and then open the door to remove the wet clothes.
  4. Continue draining any remaining water, then reinsert the bung.

Inspect the filter and sump hose for blockages. Common items found include coins, face masks, and even wedding rings. Remove any debris and check the sump hose and pump for further obstructions.

Disassembling the Beko Washing Machine

Disassembly may vary depending on the machine model. Some machines allow access from the front panel, while others require working from underneath. To dismantle the washing machine:

  1. Remove the clip and screw holding the sump hose.
  2. Check for and remove any debris from the pipe work.
  3. Reattach the filter.

Removing and Testing the Pump

To remove and test the pump:

  1. Unplug the motor and remove the screws holding the pump in place.
  2. Inspect the pump impeller for any blockages.
  3. Test the pump using an ohmmeter to ensure it has the correct resistance (approximately 168 ohms).

You can bench test the motor by watching our video, since we explained how to do that in detail.

When you are done, please ensure all connections are insulated, and only perform this test if qualified.

Reassemble the machine by reversing the disassembly steps. Make sure all connections are secure and no parts are left out. Once reassembled, test the machine on a spin cycle to ensure it empties and spins correctly.
