Beko WTK Washing Machines Review & Maintenance Guide

Comprehensive Guide: Repairing and Maintaining a Beko WTK Washing Machine

In this repair guide we will primarily focus on the entry-level seven-kilo Beko WTK washing machine model, but the principles apply to the 7, 8, 9, and 10 kilo machines.

The Beko WTK washing machine is quite solidly built. It comes with easily removable parts such as the front panel, the rear panel, and the lid, which makes accessing the inner parts of the machine quite straightforward. The machine's design is simple, with about 15-16 programs, including a drum cleaning cycle. The temperature control is set into the programs, and you can adjust the spin speed and use a delay timer. This delay timer feature is particularly useful when you wish to utilize off-peak energy rates.

The manufacturer has been responsible in providing comprehensive literature that enables engineers to effectively maintain and repair these machines. They provide excellent workshop manuals and diagnostic procedures, supplying all the information needed to repair the machine.

Please remember that, when working with washing machines or any electrical appliances, safety should always be your top priority, and we also suggest you watch our video.

Pros of the Beko WTK Washing Machine

  • Simplistic Programming: The machine offers around 15-16 programs, including a drum cleaning cycle.
  • Adjustable Features: You can adjust the spin speed and use a delay timer to take advantage of off-peak electricity rates, allowing the machine to run at night.
  • Accessible Literature: Beko provides comprehensive workshop manuals, diagnostic procedures, and maintenance information, making it easier for engineers to repair the machine.

Cons of the Beko WTK Washing Machine

  • Sealed Drum: The machine has a sealed drum, preventing users from changing the bearings, which contributes to built-in obsolescence.
  • Flimsy Plastic Components: Some components, such as the switch buttons and door handle, feel less durable compared to higher-end models.
  • New Door Interlock System: The new door interlock system, featuring a double-locking mechanism, seems less robust and might be prone to damage.

Accessing the Machine for Maintenance and Repair

To access the machine, first, remove the filter located at the bottom. There is a small drain pipe that you can rest in a tray. Open this up to drain the water, and then you will be able to open the filter. The filter twists anti-clockwise and can be removed to take out any debris or coins left inside.

The back of the machine is held on with five screws and is easy to remove. They are using Torx screws now more than just the normal screws. Once the back panel is removed, you can access the belt pulley wheel induction motor, which is a three-phase motor. This type of motor doesn't have carbon brushes like the older models.

Please remember that the whole video includes step-by-step and detailed explanations, which may help you reduce your repair time.

Front Panel

  1. Filter: Located at the bottom, the filter has a drain pipe for easy water removal. Twist the filter anti-clockwise to remove and clean out any debris.
  2. Panel Removal: The back panel is secured with five Torx screws. Removing this panel reveals the belt pulley wheel, induction motor, and control module.

Inside the Machine

  1. Induction Motor: This three-phase motor lacks carbon brushes and is controlled by a module on the left side.
  2. Universal Components: Beko should standardize components across the WTK series to reduce costs and simplify repairs.
  3. Heater Assembly with NTC Sensor: Located at the front, accessible through the removed front panel.

Electrical Components

  1. Power Lead: Connects to the electronic filter/suppressor and circuit board.
  2. Pressure Switch: Located at the top, easy to access for maintenance.
  3. Water Valves: Also easily accessible for repairs.

Drum and Door Lock

  1. Drum Construction: The drum halves are welded together, preventing bearing replacements.
  2. Door Lock: Accessible with the lid off and seal peeled back. The new locking system may be susceptible to damage.
