Ikea FXVM6 Fan Oven Cooker Bottom Heating Element Not Heating
Hi, I've found you on YouTube and found the video very good. But when I pulled out my oven's bottom heating element, some sort of foil came out around part of the element. Looking at the back of the oven (unscrewed), there is some sort of foil all around. Have I damaged some important material? Will the oven work well and safely if I just change the bottom heating element (which is very damaged) or do I need to be worried about the foil I ripped?(The oven works well in grill or fan mode, but the bottom doesn't heat up in traditional mode. The bottom heating element I have pulled out is all cracked).Thank you for your help.Best wishes,Muriel

I will try and help with this problem about Ikea FXVM6 Fan Oven Cooker
Hi Muriel, these ovens are quite good. It seems you've only pulled out some insulation, which is like cooking foil. It covers the fiberglass to keep the element insulated. You can simply insert a new element, or if you prefer, you can remove the oven's bottom and replace the damaged foil. Just be sure to use a heavy-duty, good quality cooking foil.
I've added some videos below to help you with replacing the base element. Once you've sorted the insulation and put everything back together, your oven should work perfectly again. It sounds like you've identified the problem correctly and are aware of the insulation now too. Just ensure that the fiberglass-type insulation is in the right place when you put in the new element.
