IKEA Raffinerad oven Does not get up to temperature

by / Monday, 29 April 2024 / Published in

The over works, grill is fine and fan oven seems ok except it is cooler that it should be. It re-acts to changes in the set temperature but I think it's always less than what has been requested via the selector. I have used your fantastic guides to check the resistance of the three elements. Grill element reads 21.1ohm, fan 25.8ohm, bottom element 42.2 ohm. So I don't think these have failed. Motors (fan and roof) seem o.k., I think it has a temperature sensor between the grill element that is connected to the control board (labeled Whirlpool) I think this reads 1.066 kohm at room temperature. I'm not sure what to try from here. Any help gratefully received. Eric

I will try and help with this problem IKEA Raffinerad oven

Hi Eric! IKEA cookers are usually made by Electrolux or Whirlpool, but you haven't provided the PNC number from the identification plate. With that number, I could find workshop manuals or even detailed diagrams of your cooker.

The ohms readings for the grill element, fan oven element, and bottom base element seem fine. The bottom element is typically around 1100 watts, while the fan and grill are usually over 2 kilowatts. If the fan motor runs at the right speed, air should circulate properly in the oven.

I think there might be an issue with a sensor, but without diagrams or knowing the exact model, I can't help much more. I'm not sure which sensors are in your cooker. Also, check if the oven's thermostatic sensor is in its original position. If it's moved, it could give false readings.

Please give us your full model number and PNC number, which stands for product number code. You can usually find it on the manufacturer's plate. I hope this helps! I've included a couple of videos below to help you diagnose problems.

Common IKEA Raffinerad Oven Faults with Links to the Right Repair Guide

I have also added some exploded diagrams below, along with a full list of parts and some videos to assist you.

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not set to "auto." If it is, switch it to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on, but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light is on in non-fan ovens and cookers), the likely issue is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.

  • Electricity trips (RCD) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is usually due to an element that has gone to earth. This is a well-known fault in electric ovens; the insulation in the elements breaks down and trips the RCD. The best approach is to use a meter to check each element for earth leaks. However, this issue can also result from a wiring fault.

  • The grill element doesn't work

This usually indicates that the grill element is faulty. Potential issues to check are the grill element, oven changeover switch, overheat thermostat, and main oven thermostat if it's used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

The fan motor may need to be replaced. See the video for more details. The cooling fan motor can also cause similar problems.

  • The oven overheats and burns everything

Normally, this issue results from a thermostat failure.

  • The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while

This overheating problem can be caused by the fan motor, main oven thermostat, or a faulty safety thermostat. The cooling fan, where fitted, could also be a contributing factor. Usually, these fans become noisy before failing. Safety thermostats are used to prevent overheating and will shut the oven down.
