Hoover Oven HOC709/6BX Taking a long time to heat
HelloMy Hoover oven has started taking a long time to heat up. It does eventually get up to temperature after a period of time, but once the food is in the oven it struggles to regain it's temperature. I suspect one or more of the elements is faulty. It's a fan oven and I think it has a grill element, a fan element and a bottom/base element. The grill seems to work fine, so would like to replace the fan and base elements. Are you able to advise whether these parts are available and could you supply? Many thanks in advance.

I will try and help with your Hoover Oven HOC709/6BX problem.
If you have access and know how to use a multimeter you can test the elements for continuity and also measure the resistance and calculate the power draw from there. An element is usually between 1100W (48 Ohm's) for a base element all the way to 2500W for a fan oven circular element (21 Ohms). Any value that deviates to much from this interval might indicate a faulty element. We were unable to identify the correct fan oven element for that model as the Manufacturer's schematics show it as part 219 but then it does not have listed in the spare parts table. AS for the base oven element is number 119 in the schematics and corresponds to part number 42809927.

Common Hoover Oven HOC709/6BX faults with links to the right repair guide
I have also added some exploded diagrams below with a full list of parts and some videos to assist you
- The oven will not turn on
The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.
- No Heat in Oven
If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.
- Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill
This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.
- The grill element doesn't work
This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.
- The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy
The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.
- The oven overheats and burns everything
Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.
- The oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while
This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.
