Lamona LAM4600 electric tripping when oven turned on

by / Thursday, 03 October 2019 / Published in

Hello. Every time i try to turn my oven on the electricity in the house trips off. I think it might be the main element. How can I check this and which one will be required if i need to replace it. My Cooker is a Lamona Model No LAM4600. Thanks.

The first thing you have to do is test the main fan oven element in your  Lamona LAM4600, I have supplied a video below which will show you how to do this. It is normally the case for the fan oven element to be going to earth and cause the electric to trip off. I have also added a list of the replacement product choices below for replacing the fan oven element. I have added some videos to this post to assist you in replacing the element. (The videos are not on the exact model of cooker  but changing the element is a similar process)

For your future reference, I’ve included some Common faults with these Lamona LAM4600 or LAM4601 Oven cookers to assist you in the future or anyone else reading this.

  • The oven will not turn on

The first thing you need to check is that the oven timer is not on auto if it is, turn it on to manual.

  • No Heat in Oven

If the fan is running and the thermostat light comes on but you get no heat (or just the thermostat light on in non-fan ovens and cookers) then the probability is that the fan element or oven elements have failed.

  • Electricity trips (Rcd) when I turn the oven on or grill

This is normally an element that has gone to earth, This is a well-known fault with electric ovens, the insulation breaks down in the elements and trips the RCD , best way is to stick a meter on each element and check that they have not got earth leaks on them. But this can also be a wiring fault.

  • The Lamona LAM4600 or LAM4601 element doesn't work

This would usually indicate that the grill element is faulty. Check these: Grill element, Oven changeover switch, Overheat thermostat, Main oven thermostat, if used to regulate the grill temperature.

  • The oven fan is not working or spinning correctly (slow) or is noisy

The fan motor may need to be replaced see video on this also the cooling fan motor can cause same problems.

  • The Lamona LAM4600 or LAM4601 oven overheats and burns everything

Normally this is a simple thermostat failure which would manifest itself as this symptom.

  • The Lamona LAM4600 or LAM4601 oven or cooker cuts out after it's been on for a while

This is an overheating problem which can be caused by the fan motor or main oven thermostat or a faulty safety thermostat that will be causing the problem. It can also be caused by a failure of the cooling fan, where fitted, but usually these go noisy before failing, Safety thermostats are used to prevent the oven or cooker overheating and will shut the oven down.

There are other types of air fryer oven like the full-size and the mini types but they do not come with a very large collection of food ingredients. You need to buy your own basket or container in which you can place your chosen chicken or vegetables. Mini air fryer ovens do not come with a basket or container.
